He will enter Nigeria on his Nigerian passport so they shouldn't ask for it. They only required it for visa holders. They actually changed it no not mandatory but some of the officers still want to see the card.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Yes and if you go without a card they take your passport and try and get money from you to get your passport back even though they know that it is not required. I know this for a fact that is exactly what happened to me the last time I went to visit my husband. Unfortunetly for them I had no cash on me and my ATM would not work at any of the ATM's at the airport so my husband got my passport back from them. I think he had to tell them he would bring them something back from my suitcase that his friend had put in the car but he didnt we just left at that point. But that was a US passport if they are on the Nigerian passport they should be okay.
