So, if I love a woman, and she's not in the same caste as me, but my parents and Aunties (Lord, how they work so hard on this!) find a lass within my caste - who has the ultimate decision for 'rectitude' and 'normalcy' ?? Is it the Uncles ???? That's what I remember...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

This story can be used in this thread for reference. I read it in the NY post this morning. A father kidnapped his daughter and sent her to Pakistan to get married...and threatens to kill her if she escaped.

if you love someone you shoudn't get arranged marriage. Talk to you parents if they don't agree, rebel. :| The final is say is parents but if you really love someone, you do what you have to. More and more parents are agreeing to love marriages out of caste.

That story from Pakistan falls more under the category of forced marriage rather than arranged marriage.

And so sad. I think at the British embassy in Pakistan and some other countries, they actually make an effort to track down British girls who are being forced into marriage. They get tips from friends or the girls themselves....just ridiculous in this day and age.

It looks like first it was arranged, then the arrangement failed. Then it was forced. But good thing the father was collared. With a large Pakistani population here, we see an "honor killing" every now and then.
