Hi everyone,

I am looking for some help with Form i-864. It'd be highly appreciated if anyone could help me.

Here is my situation. My US citizen wife is sponsoring me for AOS and green card. However, she does not make enough and we've decided to ask my brother for his help (who has lived and worked in the US for a long time and lately become a US citizen). Does that mean my wife will sign her own I-864 and my brother his own I-864? Or does my brother have to sign form I-864A?

If he wants to sponsor by showing his properties ie. car, house, what does he need to submit to USCIS together with our application for AOS?

THanks a lot!

They fill out their own separate I-864 forms. If the brother is married, he could have his wife fill out an I-864A to combine her income with his for the joint sponsorship.

As for using assets, begin reading the I-864 instructions at Part 7 on page 8 and continuing down into page 9: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

Sorry i've got 1 more very important question.. Could anyone please help? Please... I'm so confused with this form :(

So my brother has agreed to be a co-sponsor for me, together with my wife. Each then will sign I-864 form separately.

But his income is about $20,000 only, where I-864 form instruction says it is required to meet 125% or above poverty guideline. Does that mean my brother only needs to sponsor me and count household number in his I-864 as 2? Or does he not qualify to be a co-sponsor because if we count my wife who is a student with barely any income, then $20,000 would be less than 125% for a household of 3.

I'd really appreciate everyone's help in this question.. We've filled out all the forms except for this i-864 because it's too confusing :( Thank you all!

If your brother is single and has no dependents, then his household size would be two, himself + you(the intending immigrant). He is not sponsoring your wife(the USC) and she is not part of his household size.
