I had an infopass appointment yesterday. I read on here were a lot of people didnt have good expereinces and the customer service was either rude or incompetant.

Well the new Tampa office was both effecient, courtiuos and tried to be very helpful. She did give me some conflicting info from what the tier 2 cso from the 800# had given me. CSO had told me that my case had gone to Tampa on Nov 8th or 9th(dont remember exactly anymore since its been so long lol) THe Tampa csr told me they only received the case on Jan 10th...she also said that the service centers were really overloading the local offices with cases and its difficult for the local offices to keep up since they do not traditionally work on these files.

She told me that my case had been assigned to a senior case officer on Feb 19th. She really tried to help me out and actually went to speak to my case officer to try to see if she could get any further status update and she came back and the case worker confirmed that she did have it and even looked it over and told her that it seemed all was in order and nothing was missing

To say this was way more than I expected to find out is an understatement... Honestly my best hope was to at least find out what date they were processing. This is great since I am in the moment waiting in the Bogota Airport for connecting flight to see my wife.

Does anyone know the typical timeframe once the petition has actually been assinged a case worker?

Its good that it went to a senior caseworker and not a newbie. No one can give you a timeframe from this point. It will depend on the particular Officers caseload and their efficiency at processing.

They did look it over (or so you were told) and they said it all appeared to be good which is a +. So now you just have to wait for them to actually process it.

If youre looking for head starts, you should refer to the wiki guides, theres lots of useful tips and shortcuts (james/ling che) about things you can do to get things set up so that when you do get the approval youre ready.

I would agree with capri. It all depends on the Officer involved.

We received a NOID in early November and our reply sat on the Officer’s desk for 2 1/2 months before they got back to it.

Both times hubby went for InfoPass Appointments (between Christmas and new years and then again late Jan) this Officer was not in the office.

Also, that timeframe included Thanksgiving & Christmas.

I hope yours gets worked on very quickly!
