I know it takes 2 weeks to be registered in the system to then safely apply for a SS# after entrance into the US. Should we go over more than 2 weeks to be safe and what is the status update title when you are registered on the USCIS database? As of now we are still listed as post descision and has the NOA2 notif on there which was 6 months ago as of yesterday. I just want to know what label to look for so we can proceed without delay? Been delayed enough and don't want to mess up. I have called them and of course they can never give you any kind of "real time" answer.

I suggest walking in after 2 weeks. If SSA still doesn't have you in the system, they will run a query to CBP, and it takes them 24-48 hours to respond. By that time CBP should be able to confirm your status/documents electronically. If for some reason that is not the case, then they'll need to send a snail mail query which takes weeks to process.

Cheers!
