Hi,

I heard that the DS-2001 form is not used anymore. I am filing DCF in Manila and I keep reading about getting a DS-230 and DS-2001 form to turn in after the I-130. If the DS-2001 is not used anymore, then what form or forms will I be sending instead?

Thanks :)

Hi Roberah!

We submitted my wife's I-130 on January 22, 2013.

After more than a month of no information about the petition, I decided to call the Manila Consulate to inquire. Apparently, the NOA1 was sent since February 13, 2013 (3 weeks from filing the I-130).

During the call, we were advised to email the DS-230 and DS-2001 forms at IVmanilaattachments@state.gov ; We were also given our case number (if we're not mistaken, this is a 10-digit number? Ours look like this: 2013 _ _ _ _ _ _ .

I am also trying to find the DS-2001 form. I already accomplished the DS-230, which is easily found online.

Further research suggests this website as reference for requirements of DCF Manila: h t t p:// manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3217.html

In the webpage, DS-2001 cannot be found.

So far, the only documents (aside from the DS-230 and 2001) that we have not submitted or was not asked of us during the I-130 filing are the following:

1. NBI Clearance

2. Police Certificates

3. Evidence of Financial Support ( I-864 / AOS / I-864EZ )

Finally, I though that I can check our case status in this webpage: h t t p s:// egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do

because we were already provided our "case number" but, this site asks for a receipt number?

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your post. Hope we can settle our first problem of locating the DS-2001!

Regards!

Thanks for that reply! I actually just got off the phone with the IV section of the US embassy.

She confirmed that the link to the DS-2001 is not available on the manila US embassy webpage. She also confirmed that the following links / versions of the DS-2001 are accepted. Apparently, they are not so strict about it, and that the DS-230 is the most important document to send to IVmanilaattachments@state.gov .

This link: ***removed***/immigrant-visa/form-ds-2001.pdf

and the above poster's link are ok to use.

Also, I was asking about our case number. Apparently, our 10-digit case number has "MNL" at the start. So, the complete case number is MNL2013******.

I tried it look at our case status as directed at this website: egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do ; but apparently, it cannot be found.

I asked her about it, and gave me a solution. She directed me to this website: ceac.state.gov/CEAC/

There, I inputted our case number, and it worked. After submission of the case number starting with MNL, a window will pop-up and display your case status. says "Your case is ready for your interview"., etc.

This is easier and faster than expected. I hope this post helps someone in need of information too. Again, sorry for post-hijacking :(

Hi,

Thanks a lot for all the information, this will help a lot. You're not hijacking the post, it is actually a big help for me :) The main problem I have is not having a residency permit. I will have my acr card in a few weeks and I have a joint lease with my wife. I hope that will be good enough without have the residency visa. I know some people haven't needed it but others have. Hopefully I'll be one of the ones that dont need it.

Regarding the DS-2001:

We are filing in London and wondering if we need to send the DS-2001 WITH the DS-230 Part 1 or if we need to post DS-230 Part 1 first and wait until we have a date booked for the medical first before sending DS-2001?

I had everything sealed to mail today, then noticed the website says DS-2001 must be accompanied by a cover letter with email address, date of travel and date of medical. Medical getting booked next week, so do I have to wait then?
