Though this information might help otheres needing help like I do!!!!

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (Ombudsman’s Office).

You may submit a case problem online through Form DHS-7001 to the Ombudsman’s Office. If you currently have a case pending with the Ombudsman’s Office and have already submitted your case online, you will receive a separate email acknowledging your case submission and addressing your question. If you have not submitted a Form DHS-7001, Case Assistance Form, or you have not submitted your case online, we will not respond to this email. Please see our website for additional information about your case submission.

Please note the Ombudsman’s Office is independent of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Our statutory mission is to assist individuals and employers who experience problems when filing applications or petitions with USCIS. If you have a legal question, you should seek an experienced immigration legal service provider. Please see below for a list of Frequently Asked Questions, including information about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Department of State.

Please do not reply to this message. Complaints regarding USCIS or the Ombudsman’s Office may be submitted to cisombudsman.feedback@hq.dhs.gov

Sincerely,

The Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman

How do I request help from the Ombudsman’s Office?

The Ombudsman’s Office helps individuals and employers who have applications or petitions pending with USCIS and wish to resolve a problem associated with that application or petition. Before contacting the Ombudsman for help, we encourage you to first try to resolve your problem by using one or more of the various USCIS customer service options, including but not limited to: calling the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283, or scheduling an INFOPASS appointment with USCIS online or in your local USCIS office. USCIS has also recently made improvements to their customer service options by allowing customers to inquire electronically about filings with USCIS through e-Request, track the mailing and delivery of USCIS-produced cards and documents through their Secure Mail Initiative, and by expanding National Customer Service Center call hours. For more information, visit the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov. If you already have attempted to resolve your issue with USCIS and would like our office to review the issue, please submit a request for help from our office.

Immigration-Related Questions

The Ombudsman’s Office is limited to assisting individuals who are experiencing difficulties connected with applications or petitions pending with USCIS. Often individuals have questions regarding immigration issues that fall under the authority of other components within DHS or the authority of other agencies of the U.S. government.

Although we cannot assist in matters that do not directly involve USCIS, we hope the following information is helpful. This information addresses some frequently asked questions that may involve other components of DHS and the Department of State:

Where can I find information about what I need to enter the United States?

You can find information on admission into the United States from U.S. Customs and Border Protection including entry requirements, immigration or customs inspections, or other border crossing issues.

How can I replace my I-94 Card or prove that I left the United States?

If you wish to correct an I-94, Arrival Departure Document (I-94 Card)received upon admission to the United States at an airport or land border, please consult a deferred inspection site maintained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection .

If USCIS issued the Form I-94 (at a local USCIS office or from a USCIS Service Center) and it has an error, you should go to a USCIS local office and request a new Form I-94. If the officer at the local office is not convinced that the Form I-94 was issued in error, the officer may advise you to file Form I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Nonimmigrant Arrival Departure Document.

If your Form I-94 has been lost, stolen, mutilated, or destroyed, you will need to contact USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 and apply for a replacement Form I-94 by filing Form I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Non-Immigrant Arrival/Departure Document .

Where can I find information about visas?

The U.S. Department of State provides information on the processing of visas, and each U.S. Embassy in the country where you have filed/intend to file a visa application provides additional information on local processes. In addition, you may contact the U.S. Department of State’s Visa Services Public Inquiries Branch at (202) 663-1225. Additional information on visa petitions is available at www.uscis.gov.

How can I apply for a document that allows me to enter the United States quickly if I am a frequent traveler?

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trusted Traveler Programs provide expedited travel for pre-approved, low risk travelers through dedicated lanes and kiosks.

How can I address difficulties that I’ve experienced while traveling?

The DHS Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP) is a single point of contact for individuals who have inquiries or seek resolution regarding difficulties they experienced during their travel screening at entry ports and transportation hubs—like airports and train stations—or crossing U.S. borders.

How can I find a person who is being detained by immigration officials?

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) provides an online locator that identifies individuals who are currently detained by immigration officials. The ICE Public Advocate also provides information related to deportation and removal proceedings. You may also contact the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Field Office in your area.

Where can I find more government information on immigration questions?

The Ombudsman’s Office provides additional resources on General Immigration, Employment-Based Immigration and Humanitarian-Based Immigration.
