we called again just few minutes ago and case # is assigned :dance::dance:

However, the operator could not accept the email address of petitioner for some reason. Plus, they've mistyped the email address of petitioner in the system. So we'll call back to correct it later today

Hi Saylin,

I just want to confirm something. My husband and I will be jointly sponsoring my mother-in-law (with me being household member). Since we've not yet filed 2012 tax returns, for questions on forms I-864 (question 24b) and I-864A (question 10), I've put the total income for year 2009, 2010, and 2011. For current income, we've put our current income. However, current income is not same as 2012 income (because my husband did some random contract work that has unpredictable income). So my questions are,

1. I don't need to mention total 2012 income anywhere on form I-864 and I-864A, right?

2. I still need to send our w2, and 1099 for 2012 with our AOS package, right?

I just want to make sure I am filling in proper #s.

1. No, technically 2012 income won't be anywhere on the forms if you haven't filed 2012 taxes yet.

2. It would be a good idea to send, yes, but not required.

Keep in mind, 2012 tax information WILL be needed at the interview as it'll likely be after April 15, the tax deadline.

Here's a quick question:

I just got off the phone with Bailey from NVC. She informed me that they had finished reviewing our IV package and that as soon as we responded to the checklist, we'd have a case closure. I asked what the checklist was for. She responded that they were waiting for our Irish police certificate, which we included in the packet. I said so, and even gave her the name of the Superintendent that signed off on it. She named the certificate (the police in Ireland are called the Garda, so it's a Garda certificate) and I told her that yes, that was it. She put a note on it for the supervisor to look at, showing that a Garda certificate IS a police certificate. Bailey then freaked me out completely by saying that it's going to take another 15 business days for the supervisor to review that packet again. Is that right?! They have everything there! So pissed off right now! :ranting:

It won't take that long. Just a few more days. I'd say case complete by the end of the week yes.gif

Thanks :) I do plan to include 2012 w2 and 1099 and after the taxes are filed, we'll send the copy of tax return to beneficiary to take it with her during interview.

That's just funky-fresh, that the Consulate would get it, at all, at this stage.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

All right, things are moving, but I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

We sent AOS and IV together and because we're filling from abraod, intend to qualify on assets (we had significantly more than the min. amount required).

Today we received this checklist.

Is that what they usually send?

Will they wait for us in case we'd like to submit more evidence (we don't though, we won't add a co-sponsor, at least not now) or will they start scheduling the interview now?

Thank you!

No, until you send the documents necessary to fufill the checklist requirements, they won't complete the case, and thus won't start scheduling.

Well I rolled out of bed at 4am Pacific time this morning to call NVC to see if they had received our case. I was still half asleep and someone answered right away and it took me by surprise. She was pleasant but the conversation was so quick I wasn't sure if it even happened at all. She said they received our case on March 8th but its still being processed so no case # assigned yet. Now I am making my Husband call 12 hour later and he is on hold. I am probably just being impatient but I want to get those darn numbers and get this show on the road!

The delay in question, is not at NVC, but rather, with the IV Unit -if/when they issue a 221G notice. Let's assume they won't, as the IOs at the IV Unit have in-depth training that the reviewers at NVC do not.

For clarity and yer sanity - suggest to call into NVC and inquire about this. Ask for a Supervisor, as that fella (or lass) that answers the phone won't know enough to be helpful.

Once NVC receives your case, it can take up to 20 business days for them to assign case numbers. Once they do that, you give them your email address, and only then can they contact you with AOS info. The person you hired should be doing that - calling to get case numbers, giving over your email address, etc - otherwise, you'll never be able to sign onto the portal to pay the fees (because you need the case and IIN numbers to do so), nor will they send you the other document information.
