Thanks Saylin, your info was right on the money...

On the side note I wish NVC was really specific and straightforward with the DS 230 we had to resend...they (representatives ) coudn't really tell what's wrong with it. Even their email checklist wasn't much help...could have gotten an earlier approval but oh well...

I can only surmise that the initial ds 230 we sent with the IV package was

1. Missing

Or

2. Something's wrong with it...

Congrats!

What exactly did the checklist say?

I actually got 2 checklists. Prior to that NVc received our AOS dox on May 1, then our IV dox on May 08.

The first checklist on May 14 stated that they want the Financial Evidence and Part 1 of the DS 230...I was thinking "nah standard checklist, nothin to worry about"

The second checklist on May 22 stated that they want Part 1 of the DS 230 which was the same as checklist 1 and nothing out of the ordinary...At this point I was thinking "another standard checklist" I made a follow up call 2 days after since I was expecting a "case complete" the rep said they received all other requirements except ds 230 which i find odd since it was included in the iv package. Prior to sending, I inspected the form several times and was sure nothing was missing. I was thinking they needed more time to review it and etc...after a week my wife and I decided to send another DS 230 which was received on June 1.

My wife and I assumed maybe something was wrong with the initial ds 230 sent on may 8 since I remember the bottom portion was slightly faded due to tne printer but the reps keep on saying they dont have it which i find hard to believe since I know we included it with our civil dox on May 08

The first one sounds like a false checklist based on them either getting the fees or adding the DS-3032 to the case file. The second checklist sounds like another false checklist as well, based on them reviewing and accepting your AOS package. But, the fact that the operators said the DS-230 was missing was a little strange. Oh well, at least you have a case complete now and that's all behind you!

Just wanted to check in and say that we made it to the US and my wife was approved for her 10 year green card. Obviously she hasn't received her green card or SS card in the mail yet.

We were so worried after arriving at our POE that we'd miss our connecting flight in the US (the customs and immigration lines were horrendous and they wouldn't let us go to the front) that we didn't thank the Immigration officer who approved my wife. He began to explain everything but we were sort of rude, "yeah, great,,, ok. Gotta go!" We ended up missing the flight anyway…

Now we are in the US and I receive an email from USCIS saying that her NOA2 was returned by the post office on May 30th. That's 45 days after her visa was approved! They wan't me to call. Is the NOA2 an important document to have? Should I bother calling USCIS and having them send it to us? Also, her case on USCIS has regressed from "Post Decision Activity" to "Initial Review".

Now that we're here is there anything else we need to do? I can't remember.

Thanks to all on the VJ, especially Saylin, for their help. I hope our experience will contribute to helping others make their journeys.

Woohoo, glad you two made it to the US safely!!

Did you pay the $165 immigrant fee after getting the visa?

Um, wow, the NOA2? That's the approval notice from USCIS for the I-130 petition. Kinda late.. blink.png You don't need the NOA2, especially since she's already immigrated, but it might be a good idea to have for your records, but it's up to you. And weird about her case regressing, especially since she's long been out of USCIS. *shrug*

Not much to do now except to settle in! If her SSN card doesn't arrive in 3 weeks from POE, then have her go apply in person at a local SSA office. That's what I ended up having to do.

Saylin, I called USCIS today and they told me that the craziest thing. I have to fill out a form I-824 ($405.00 rofl.gif) in order for them to re-mail our NOA2 to our current address in the US. He said that was the only way since our visa application was approved. Guess we don't need that piece of paper after all. no0pb.gif

Oh, I did pay the $165 Immigrant Fee after we got the visa and before we left for the US. I never got any confirmation that it was paid though. Guess I should check my bank statements to see if it went through? I remember thinking the payment portal was confusing and also how odd that there was no email receipt.

Um, wow, that's expensive blink.png

I'm not sure if you should have gotten a confirmation or not. This fee wasn't around when I went through. But checking your bank account would be a good idea to see if it went through.
