Hello Everybody and to Saylin (she is an expert) !!!

Again,I have come across with one point while filling the I-864. In 'For Government use only' column of page 5 part 7, it says - "The total value of all assest, line 29, must equal 5 times the difference between the poverty guidelines and the sponsor's household income, line 24c".Does it mean if my assest say bank balance is not the 5 times the difference between the PG value and my current income then I CAN'T SHOW IT or IT IS USELESS TO SHOW IT!!???

Also, in case of showing my bank balance do I need any letter from bank or just the photocopy of account statement will work?? And at the time of interview does my wife need to submit any proof of ownership or CA report her property and her assets??? May be I have to submit the proof of her property with this form if I used her assets to support the income!!? Correct me if I am wrong... SO,.. IS IT THAT ALL SHE HAS TO DO IS GET HER MEDICAL REPORT back there when case is forwarded to embassy???

Sorry If I am thinking too hard :innocent: and making it complicated :bonk: .

THANK YOU

Sorry you are going through this.

Your timeline indicates your embassy is Philippines... also you should have reacted faster in my sense as your case number MNL***** already indicates Manilla I guess.

Maybe I just miss something.

Hopefully by writing to a supervisor you can get that corrected fast. Good luck!

My flag is Philippines on here because that is my citizenship. I have lived in Japan for close to a year now.

Our case number was given just this March 27. This is the "fastest" I could have reacted. There was no indication in our NOA2 that the embassy they would choose for us is Manila.

Everywhere in our application clearly stated that I have nothing whatsoever to return to in Manila. Yes, even my family does not live there anymore.

Please keep on hoping for us. Or else I will have NVC pay my plane tickets and hotel! It is not cheap to fly from Japan!

While I am thrilled we got an expedite I am having withdrawal symptoms,,,,, I feel so disconnected from the group now. sad.gif

Awwwww... Be happy, dear. How about you start planning a roadtrip before you get there?

It's been over 2 weeks since our case was completed. I called NVC 2 days ago and still no interview date. Patiently waiting.... :clock:

You and me both! It's been a month since my case was completed. Fingers crossed for some good news this upcoming week, for the both of us. star_smile.gif

Philippines. I wonder if that weighted more in their decision to assign my case there. If that's the case, why will they even ask for a list of past and present addresses? Sigh

Just to be very sure, i should put "SUPERVISOR REVIEW - MNL******* - Beneficiary name" as subject?

Is it important that I send it ASAP prior to them sending the bill and packages to us? My case number was apparently just assigned March 27th, the day before I called.

Thank you so much for your expert opinion :)

Yeah, that's probably where they got the Philippines from then. But, they should have noticed your address as being in Japan and such.

Yup, that would be a good subject line good.gifSend the email sometime this week, the sooner the better. Attach scans of any evidence showing you're currently living in Japan (such as a driver's license, or mail you get) as well as your residence card, or whatever you have proving you're a Japanese resident.

Why are you feeling disconnected? You're gone/going through the exact same process, except your case is just going to be a little faster now.

Is it OK to request/have an interview before the medical exam? Do embassies routinely allow this? I am trying to figure out how to get our interview done before the 15th, TAX DAY. At that point we'll need to bring more tax documents, which I don't have and probably won't have for a month! It looks like our case-file will arrive on the 2nd or 3rd - a day to review documents - that means we could have an interview on the 5th if there's a spot. Or anytime the following week. However medical isn't until the 9th.

I am terrified to mail these people at the embassy, they always respond with a generic response that has absolutely nothing to do with our situation. When I respond pointing that out, they get curt with me. It leaves me in fits. Maybe I should make the two hour trip into the city and talk with a consular before the case arrives and try and set up an appointment ASAP? Yeah, that's what I'll do.

If the interview is before the medical, then you'll be placed into AP until they receive your medical documents. How fast they react once they do get your medical documents differs by embassy (due to their workload). Would it be possible to get the medical re-scheduled for sometime this upcoming week? It'd be preferred if the medical is done before the interview, just so it doesn't slow down the processing.

Yes, in your case, it might be better if you visit the embassy in person. Make sure you have your passport with you, as well as perhaps the first piece of correspondence showing your NVC case number, and the email you received from NVC saying your expedite was approved.

I hear ya! I really hope both of us will be hearing good news this week. The interview itself will be stressful and waiting to be assigned an interview is stressful. Nothing about the visa process is painless.

What happens if an accountant files your taxes under a wrong filing status? filed as married but the wrong category. Does the consulate look at your filing status? ughhh I can't believe these accountants know nothing about this, I am so aggravated right now!

What status was filed exactly? As long as it was one of the married ones (separately or jointly), it was done correctly. It's only done incorrectly if it was single.

I never received an email saying my expedite was approved.

How'd you find out then?

And they should have emailed you saying it was approved. If not, I'd call up and request confirmation.

I called them two days in a row and was told over the phone on the 2nd day. I was told it was approved on the 28th and shipped on the 29th. Sure enough… I am tracking it on the DHL website.

I will call and ask them to send an email confirmation. Maybe send an email request too for good measure.

Thank you.smile.gif

Well, if it was just approved, the email might still come unrequested. Their emails do take a couple days sometimes to receive. But yeah, call up to request an email confirmation, just in case.

How do we apply for expidite request?

First, you'll need to wait for a case number to be assigned. Once it has, ask an operator for the procedure. It'll most likely be sending an email. You can write up the request now if you wish to save time later. Gather evidence as well for your request, if you wish.

How do we apply for expidite request?

There have been a number of people asking about expediting. You have to have a valid reason to expedite. Not just because you don't want to wait.no0pb.gifno0pb.gifno0pb.gif

This USCIS website has information. Click here for expedite requirements.

For those who think that expedites are arbitrary and are envious… I wouldn't envy us. We have been through hell since January. Our family received death threats, we were told to get out of the village we own land in, my children and I have been persecuted because we are "white". This is a place we have lived in for seven years now. We finally had enough when a mob encircled our house, and neighbors, who we've always helped, didn't utter a word to support us. In hindsight I should have requested an expedite in the beginning, but we thought we would tough it out and follow the 'normal' immigration process while our children finished their school year - try to keep some semblance of 'normal' life for them.
