Hello everyone!

My case was assigned to Manila, Philippines, even when everywhere else in our petition package, it stated we both lived in Japan. :(

I understand AKSinghSingh experienced a similar issue with a wrong consulate assignment. But, mine is the wrong country :(

I called 3x last night and they said It states in the system I don't have evidence of living in Japan. When I never even stated I live in the Philippines! This is truly disappointing.

In the email that I will be sending to request the change, I plan to put in scans of everything we have already sent as proof of my current address (thank you, VJ, for telling me to make copies) and to express my disappointment with this oversight. Is the latter part a wise thing to do?

Where was the beneficiary born?

Definitely send that email. I'd suggest putting 'Supervisor Review' right at the very beginning of that subject line, so the email is looked at pronto next week.

I'd say skip about expressing your disappointment as that really won't do anything.

Hello VJ family :)

I got my interview date already scheduled! May 13th will be the big day   I definitely couldn't go through this process without your advices, support and info! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

SPECIAL THANK YOU to Saylin! :star: What would we do without you?! Thanks a lot!!

Woohoo, congrats! kicking.gif

Also got interview date scheduled :) It's later than what I was hoping but at least it's been scheduled! How do I know once my case has reached the embassy? The interview letter NVC sent says that the case has been forwarded to the embassy. I don't want to try to talk to them before they get my case b/c I'm sure they'll just tell me they can't talk to me about a case they know nothing about.

Also need to schedule medical, too bad they're closed today (Sat), aaahhh I can't believe we're finally at this stage. Thanks everyone for all your help I seriously don't know what I would have done without this site to calm my fears!

Yay, grats! kicking.gif

Once NVC is open next week, call them up to see if they've sent your case abroad yet. Once they do tell you they've sent it, give it a few days. Then contact DOS to see if the embassy has received your case. Once they've told it has arrived, then you can contact the embassy about possibly getting a sooner date. Good luck!

I put the CMR address on the big envelope, and had 2 envelopes inside, each one with the correct address for each package.

thank you again! :)

Philippines. I wonder if that weighted more in their decision to assign my case there. If that's the case, why will they even ask for a list of past and present addresses? Sigh

Just to be very sure, i should put "SUPERVISOR REVIEW - MNL******* - Beneficiary name" as subject?

Is it important that I send it ASAP prior to them sending the bill and packages to us? My case number was apparently just assigned March 27th, the day before I called.

Thank you so much for your expert opinion :)

Quick question

Do people work at NVC on Saturday?? The reason I ask is because my package is set to be delivered today but it requires a signature and I was hoping someone would be working to sign for it.

Thanks guys.

if you wait about 1 week after 'interview date set' timetick,

is a good chance that the casefile has completed it's transit into the IV Unit.

Email the IV Unit, asking for an earlier date.

Note they won't pay much attention to the request UNTIL the physical casefile hits their door.

So, if no positive response on first try, keep emailing, once a day, keep trying.

Some IV units not do direct email, but have an IV Unit response form on their website - so study a bit, find out what's what.

Go Get Em !

Yeah that was me! But then the embassy in Cairo did not approve my request, unfortunatly! Shame on them :( Thank god I requested it fast and got a fasat reply so I can keep going with the process normally! :) I will be sending out my AOS and IV packages this coming week! Hope it goes fast and I get a May interview! :S

I am sorry to hear you weren't approved. It looks like your case is moving forward. smile.gifI think you should get your packets out as soon as you can print the Cover Sheets for them. Don't wait for the portal to show as paid. It will save you a few days time. Also, I think you might consider going ahead with your medical on the 9th. It could take a few days for them to forward it to the embassy.

Thanks guys :) Also, just to make sure I am doing this right, I can send the IV packet first right? Order doesn't matter cause they are two different things right? :)

The order doesn't matter, really, but what does matter is payment of fees.

So, anything that you've paid? can send it in.

Historically, people see the AOS fee bill first, pay it, send in AOS set then

the IV set catches up , fee bill available to pay, etc etc.

The order in which you do things for AOS or IV not matter, when you have paid the fees.

It's the fees that matter, always. Pay a fee? Send something in.

Good Luck !

Is it OK to request/have an interview before the medical exam? Do embassies routinely allow this? I am trying to figure out how to get our interview done before the 15th, TAX DAY. At that point we'll need to bring more tax documents, which I don't have and probably won't have for a month! It looks like our case-file will arrive on the 2nd or 3rd - a day to review documents - that means we could have an interview on the 5th if there's a spot. Or anytime the following week. However medical isn't until the 9th.

I am terrified to mail these people at the embassy, they always respond with a generic response that has absolutely nothing to do with our situation. When I respond pointing that out, they get curt with me. It leaves me in fits. Maybe I should make the two hour trip into the city and talk with a consular before the case arrives and try and set up an appointment ASAP? Yeah, that's what I'll do.

That is going to be country specific. I know that Stockholm will do it and has done it for VJ posters in the past, but they are a very responsive embassy.

Sorry you are going through this.

Your timeline indicates your embassy is Philippines... also you should have reacted faster in my sense as your case number MNL***** already indicates Manilla I guess.

Maybe I just miss something.

Hopefully by writing to a supervisor you can get that corrected fast. Good luck!
