You can try just checking online?

https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/

Or wait every couple days to call. I know it takes them a bit to do things so I try to wait until my next day off work to call.

Oh thanks! does this tell you when your case is complete? It gives a pretty generic message right now for me...

I mailed out the AOS and IV packet on 3/15. Called yesterday they confirmed that the IV packet has been reviewed and accepted. Received an email earlier today with a Checklist saying IV packet received and still waiting for AOS packet. I understand that waiting for AOS packing is a false checklist since they both were mailed out together.

The real concern I have is, when I mailed out the IV packet, I didn't include the original birth certificate of my wife (only a notarized copy was included) because I didn't have it in my possession. I do have it now and was expecting a Checklist for missing birth certificate, but I didn't get it. Can I still expect them to request for it before completing my case? even though they have accepted the IV packet? Thanks

I wanted to know if it is worth stressing calling everyday to know if my case is complete since anyway it is the interview that will be the long pole...

Thoughts? Just tired of hearing 20 biz days :-)

I called twice a week... Tuesday and Friday (because Monday was so busy trying to get through) For me it wasn't THAT important to know the second it completed.

You can change your address as often as you want. No need to submit multiple DS-3032s. Just one is needed. Just call NVC and update them with the new address, that's all. And if you change address again before the interview, make sure the beneficiary has an updated I-864 and DS-230 for the interview with the new address.

First off, you need a valid reason for expediting. It can't just be because you want to be with your loved one sooner. Otherwise we'd all be expediting! As far as I know, you do NOT need to be a citizen to expedite, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Thank you so much Saylin.

So if I change my address after submitting I864 and DS230, will NVC update my new address in those 2 form by just calling NVC??? Do I need to send or re-send any letter or doucument to support that change?

Also, I have some questions regarding I-864 and DS-230:

I-864

In Part 2

3. Mailing Address: Is it my address in US or her address in our country?

In Part 5

21. Persons you are sponsoring in this affidavit

a. Enter the number you entered on line 10 ---- 1 (in my case)

(i.e. no. of immigrant I am sponsering)

Person NOT sponsered in this affidavit

b. Yourself ---- 1 (in my case)

c. if you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse ---- 1 (in my case)

.

.

.

h. Add together lines and enter the number here. Household Size -- 3 (in my case)

Here, I am confuse with 'a' and 'c' cause I am counting same person twice?? is it correct??

In Part 6

24

a. List your income from line 23 of this form ---- <my current income>.

b. Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size. ---- <my wife's current income>

c. Total Household Income: ---- <total from a and b>

(Total all lines 24a and 24b. Will be compared to poverty guidelines)

Here my question is: If I used my wife's income (i.e she earned in our country), does she need any supporting documents?

And, as it says that this current income will be compared to PG, then will it matter if my previous 3 years total income is less than 125% HHS PG???

However, I am planning to put co-sopnser.

DS-230

31a. Person(s) named in 14 and 29 who will follow you to the US now.

31b. Person(s) named in 14 and 29 who will follow you to the US at a later date.

I'm confused. In both, I wrote my name. Correct me if I am wrong??

Sorry I asked too many questions. :help:

Thank you.

Oh you mean when NVC receives and reviews the IV packet I send them?

No, the instruction package is sent after you pay the IV invoice. But, if you're on VJ and following the guides, you don't need it as you should know everything that needs to be sent in the IV package.

I mailed out the AOS and IV packet on 3/15. Called yesterday they confirmed that the IV packet has been reviewed and accepted. Received an email earlier today with a Checklist saying IV packet received and still waiting for AOS packet. Yes, I think it's still possible. I believe they do one final check after both packages are approved, just to make sure. But, I'm not 100% sure on this. You'll just have to wait and see.

No, they won't update the forms, they'll just update your address in their system. No need to send in updated forms to NVC (it'll just confuse the heck out of them). Either bring updated forms to the interview or inform them at the interview of the new address, and they'll just cross it out and write it in themselves.

I-864

Part 2 is all about the beneficiary.

For 21, as it states, do not count anyone twice. You'll put 1 in a and that's it. C will be 0 as they've already been counted in a. So, h will be 2.

For 24, you can only use the beneficiary's income if that income will continue once they move to the US. So will your wife still be working at the same place earning income after she's moved to the US? If the answer is no, then b will be $0. And if you're under the poverty line, you'll need to find a joint sponsor.

DS-230

You're wrong. These questions are only for people IMMIGRATING. As you're a US citizen, then you're obviously not immigrating to the US. Don't be confused by the word "follow" or "travel". This question is specifically for those immigrating. If your wife is the only beneficiary, then write N/A for that question.

Thank you once again Saylin :D for your prompt reply and also clarifying my doubts. By the way, I am LPR not a citizen.

OK, so we can re-submit the new forms (i.e. I866 and DS230) with updated address only at the time of interview?? That's really ease the burden on both sides.

My current annual income which i am earning now will be above poverty line. But my previous recent years annual income is under poverty line because i was outside the country most of the time. And in this form, the total household income is calculated from current earning income rather than previous years' income. So I don't know how much the previous years' income effects in the decision!!!!!???? Just to be in the safe side, I am planning to have a co-sponser. Also, does the assets like bank balance will be counted while measuring the annual income??

Thank you again..

Well, even as a LPR, you're still not immigrating to the US as you have a green card. That question is for those non-US citizens/residents.

Yup, just bring the updated forms to the interview!

NVC focuses on current income. My husband was below the poverty line in 2 out of the 3 previous years, and was just barely over the recent year. But his current income was almost double over (due to getting a higher paid job). We had absolutely no issues at NVC, nor the embassy. But your embassy may be stricter than Montreal, so you'd probably pass NVC alright, but not sure about your embassy.

It's getting closer!!! Feeling  and :help: at the same time!

I have a quick question as someone mentioned that, during the interview, he had to show a letter from the City Hall indicating that he isn't in the military.

I called my City Hall and they don't know what it is. Any help?
