I found out today that our expedite request was approved by the embassy. I asked the operator if our DS-230 packet had been reviewed and she said, "no". She then proceeded to tell me that they would send the case to the embassy within 24 hours and that once they found our IV packet they would return that to us via regular mail. She said we should start filling out a new DS-230… I nearly had a heart attack. For a second I tried to explain that doing that would slow us down, then I thought it's better to speak with supervisor about this. Good thing I knew I could, thanks Saylin and others.

Supervisor Julie said our case was expedited, and I said our DS-230 was in the building as of the 18th. Would that be returned to us? Julie said, "No, we will track that down and include that in your file going to the embassy". I had her repeat it twice. Still feeling a bit uneasy after hearing the operator entertain the idea of mailing our original documents to our mountain village in Nepal - we still haven't received our NOA2 yet from USCIS!!! It's most likely lost. I think I will be calling again first thing in the morning and making sure they know that our DS-230 packet is in the building and to make a note on our case. The mere idea of them returning those documents is terrifying. After hearing everyone else's experiences with NVC $%$K-ups I am concerned.

I have to say I had tremendous fortune today. We have 2 six-hour blackouts each day and sometimes the internet works after the power comes on, sometimes it doesn't. Today the power came on an hour early and then the internet about 20 minutes before NVC closed at midnight. I was able to get through. Skype didn't drop me while on hold and I was able to speak with a supervisor. That's equivalent to winning the PowerBall in Nepal.

WOW! I am soooo happy for you!  Congratulations on the approval of the expedite! That was a fast reply from the embassy! :) I understand you are worried about the DS-230, but I am sure it will get sent too, don't worry. I have done so much research on expedition at NVC, and so many VJ's were worried as well about files they sent to NVC right before approval of the request! It all went to the embassy cause NVC makes sure before it sends anything out that they have nothing of your papers left in building, reviewed or not! So go ahead and celebrate your complete case and wait for a soon interview date :D You gave me soooo much hope I i will hear good news soon  and thanks for keeping us updated despite all the internet conflicts you are going thru :)

After reviewing many cases on VJ (and Saylin's data ;-), it looks like 2 weeks is a "normal" processing time, so I'd wait one more week before getting worried!

So according to the NVC, I am able to proceed with everything using my old case number while they work on generating my new case number.

This may be a redundant question and I apologize for that. Since my husband's DS-3032 has been accepted, will we get a new invoice number for our IV bill or do I use the old one from the AOS invoice? The DS-3032 was accepted a few days ago and I haven't seen anything new from the NVC since.

I am the petitioner.

And don't worry about your IV package. I've never seen a package mailed back to the petitioner/beneficiary after an expedite approval. Everything always gets gathered up and sent to the embassy.

Just stay in contact with NVC for when they send the documents out. Once they send them out, give it a few days, then start calling DOS to find out if the embassy has received your case. Once the embassy has your case, wait about a day for them to process it or so, then contact the embassy (either by email or phone) and ask if you need to do anything and see if an interview date has been assigned.

I'm not entirely sure how things work (ie getting another IIN) when a new case number is generated. But I'm sure that both numbers are joined, so even if you continue to use the old number throughout the rest of the NVC process, NVC will see it and know it's you.

When was the DS-3032 accepted? You can always contact NVC and ask when you're going to get invoiced for the IV bill.

Thank you for the advice Saylin… is it going to be Dr. Saylin soon?

I just called again. This is unknown territory for operators - got the same response as before,,, then asked for a supervisor. Spoke with a 'morning' supervisor who said that it was now the job of the first supervisor I spoke with last night to track down my DS-230 packet (she works nights) and that the whole kit and caboodle could be sent Friday, but that they usually send on Saturdays. That's about as much as he knew,,,,, other than he said "wait 10 days." laughing.giflaughing.giflaughing.giflaughing.gif

I can't get through to my embassy via phone. They don't allow it. They don't let us park on the embassy grounds either. I will have to go there because whoever's in charge of answering email is overworked and stressed out and never answers my questions.

Called the NVC- they received and reviewed my DS-261 yesterday. I should be able to pay the IV bill in the next 5-7 days (I'll look every day.. obviously... LOL.) The OPTIN email just needs more time but I can't send in any of the emails with PDF forms until they accept the optin.

Husband is going to downtown Denver on Monday (his next day off) to get his tax transcripts. One of his co-workers who has lived in Denver his whole life is going with him to make sure he doesn't get lost. LOL

Haha, no Dr in my future laughing.gif

Silly operators headbonk.gif I'd call again later tonight (around 11pm EST) and find out the status on your case. You'll probably have to get a supervisor again.

And Nepal is like Montreal: no phone. Although, we do have a form we can fill out, albeit taking awhile to reply. If you can't contact NVC, you can always contact DOS; they have access to your case.

It’ll be a week Saturday for us. For both the DS-260 & the civil documents e-mail. I called this morning and nothing yet on either…

Easter is not a holiday in the US. Better for us right now though right :)

Enjoy your long weekend.

Fingers crossed that we hear something very soon!

Saylin,

The DS-3032 was accepted on 3/26/2013. I just got off the phone with the NVC and the rep told me that it is going to take some time to generate my new case number. In the meantime we can use the old number which I will be doing in order to submit our completed AOS package.

In regards to the IV invoice, she told me she can see that I've been invoiced. However I cannot and she said that its probably due to the fact that they are waiting to issue the new case number.

In the meantime, I'll be making my daily phone calls to the NVC until our new case number is issued.

I am the petitioner.
