Saylin, I went to London drugs to get my photos done because I don't have a white wall at home. Can I scan it and use that service to make more or should I just try to borrow a white sheet?

Okay need advice to help someone with so many petitions taking forever to get to NVC what does one do. back story

NOA2 1-25

No one knows where petition is. NVC says call USCIS. USCIS has no clue. What do they do now? (Maybe they got sent to New Delhi (Not their embassy). :(

Here is my experience :

- NOA2 = 1/24

- My case reached NVC only on 03/05

This is what happened, I guess a combination of all bad luck

- USCIS never sent the petition to NVC when they said they did : they sent me a letter on 1/25 saying clearly they sent it to NVC. They did not.

- USCIS seems actually has sent the petition only on 02/22

- Meanwhile I was trying figure out and I realized USCIS set my wife for adjustment of status not consular processing which explains maybe why my petition was not sent

- It took me several calls/begging on the phone to get USCIS look into my case

- I also engaged my congressman who frankly I dont now if he actually helped or it was just coincidence with all the calls I made that started giving results

Lesson : ready super carefully NOA2 letter and make sure it does not talk about adjustment of status if your spouse is out of the country.

Note : once my case reached NVC, I got my case number in 2 days and I think I made up somehow the delay overall. Seeing the glass half full:-)

Hope this helps...

How long did it take for you to get a response to your optin after sending the email? You can always send the AOS package now and then again when the optin is accepted. Or just simply wait until it's accepted.

What does NVC say the status is on your DS-261 when you call up and ask?

why is it taking so long for AOS to invoice??? I was approved on Friday. I know i need to give it time. So close...:unsure::blush:

What do you by "approved on Friday"? What was approved?

Saylin, I went to London drugs to get my photos done because I don't have a white wall at home. Can I scan it and use that service to make more or should I just try to borrow a white sheet?

I'm not sure scanning would work as it won't be great quality. You don't have any white or off-white walls at all? Or at a family or friend's house?

If a supervisor at NVC isn't helping and if a Tier 2 at USCIS isn't working, then it might be time to contact a congressman and/or senator. Calling DOS might help too (especially if it was sent abroad by accident), maybe even contacting the embassy to see if they've received it would be a good idea (just to be sure).

How does one get the info that their papers are in nvc? Does NVC send a notice of receipt and followed by the case number?

No receipt sent. You need to call NVC to find this out.

If you don't call to give them your email addresses, then NVC will send the initial information package (which contains the case numbers), but it'll be by snail mail. Expect to receive it in a few weeks after the case number is assigned.

This is why it's suggested to call NVC every day after about 1-2 weeks from NOA2. That way you can find out right away and give over your email addresses so NVC will send correspondence by email, instead of snail mail, shaving weeks off.
