Saylin,

How important do you think it is that my hubby has a complete copy of our original petition with him at the interview? :help:

I'm aiming for a May interview now. Just found out that the document that they checklisted me for is going to take two more days for my husband to obtain prior to translation. That, and Hamigirl got the last April interview for Cas, I'm sure of it. But I'm glad for her.

Thanks Erin and at least you know that the wait time won't be long as soon as they open May :) I am rooting for a May 1 interview for you guys :D :D

You're welcome :)

And congrats on AOS acceptance! kicking.gif

Hey Saylin, just read better your response, she lost the "old" passport and that's my issue. We do have copies as that's what we started the process with.

I am worried if I send with the copy of the lost passeport and she goes to the interview with the renewed passport, it will send red flags.

:-(

It's not super duper important, but you should have really made a copy before sending it off so you have one for your own personal records. You should do that with any sort of forms you send off, not just with immigration, in case there's ever an issue.

Oh, I see. Hmm, no, I don't think it'll be a big deal at all, as long as the name on her new passport will be the same, as the interview letter will be issued in that name.

You can always try contacting your embassy and explaining your situation. See what they say.

 Totally looking forward to reading about your husband's interview process. My husband and I had a long conversation yesterday. I'm sure sending him a copy of everything I've submitted thus far will cost me an arm and a leg, plus three toes and five inches of hair.

I may just send him my taxes instead of everything else! :bonk:

Super!

I just spoke to her and she thinks we should wait 48hrs and if the new passport is not issues we'll send with the old one.

For ONCE, it is us blocking this process not the NVC/USCIS :-(

Thanks :-)

NO I have 2 sets of everything I sent in: one for me and one for him but it is super expensive to send it to him via UPS or FEDEX they quoted me 165$ and the other 148$ way too much money :(

Ohh, gotcha laughing.gif For the optional stuff where it can be copies, just scan everything and email it to him. He can then just print it out on his end. No money spent :)

I didn't call all last week hoping that I would be able to call just once today and get a case complete, but no cigar

I'm sad, if I don't get a case complete this week there goes my hope for a late April interview!

Sorry to hear that. Are interviews there given within 30 days of case complete? I hope it's the same here. I emailed the Embassy to ask about that - no reply. What a building full of stinkers they are.

blink.gif Start scanning!

the copy of the petition you take to the interview needs to be an original?? mine is a copy my attorney sent via email, the original copy was obviously sent to USCIS.

It obviously can't be the original as the original was sent to USCIS. So just a copy!

One last double triple check :-)

Here is what I plan include in the IV packet. Is this good?

1. Bar-coded cover sheet

2. 2 Passport-sized photographs of the beneficiary

3. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the beneficiary

4. Completed and 'unsigned' form DS-230 Part 2 by the beneficiary

5. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport

6. Original birth certificate of the beneficiary

7. Original marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner

8. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

9. 1 set Photocopy of all the above civil documents

Good enough?

I read in some posts some people send proof of bona fide of marriage in this packet and don't know if it is necessary. It seems good to add them, in which case I will.

Thanks!

That's the basic package good.gifMake sure there aren't any country-specific documents needed. There's a link in the first post about this.

For bona fide evidence, it's usually a good idea for those in MENA countries. Is your country hard at the interview? If yes, then include evidence.

Thanks Saylin, I checked the link there was nothing specific to Algeria.

Thats a MENA country and I presume they will be hard. So I'll gather some evidence and add it (trips to Turkey, France, Italy, wedding + family pictures, etc...).

Thanks so much for all the help!
