I figured I'd let the checklist to be a third opportunity to add more proof of marriage, so I asked my husband to send pictures he took from our trips... and they're really sweet.

That is all.

We never had a photo album. Eight years and no photo album, and I am/was a photographer! So, we put together an album of 50 photos from the past eight years to show at her interview. It was a good excuse to get it done.

It's hard to whittle down your relationship to 50 photos, but I bet it was gratifying to get that completed. I've just been arranging photos in a word document, then putting captions or explanations of who's in the pictures and where we are, then printing those out. My dad was our wedding photographer and he put together a coffee table book for us and just about everyone in our family.

In your situation, it's best to wait. I know it's hard to hear, but it's the truth. They're going to want the original police certificate. I would have suggested something else if your spouse still had the original and hadn't mailed it. But, now that it's been mailed, your best option is just to wait and include it. You'll experience the same time frames if you send it now and get a checklist or if you wait and send everything in together.

Yay, grats on progress! kicking.gif

Agreed with this good.gif

You do four things:

1. Send the IV package with your new address

2. Call NVC up Monday to tell them you changed your address, give them the new address

3. Call NVC up Tuesday to confirm the address change (you never know with these operators headbonk.gif)

4. Bring an updated I-864 to the interview with your new address (they may not want/need it, but it's good to have your bases covered)

This is the important part. Not sending in photocopies will slow the reviewing officer down, taking time out to review your package, and depending on their personality and how their day is going, this may tick them off. That's why I always suggest using paperclips instead of stapling things as it's the same concept. If you use staples, yeah, they won't checklist you (obviously), but now they have to go and remove the staples (and I don't know about you guys, but I hate removing staples!), thus possibly ticking them off.

You want to make the reviewing officer's job as easy as possible. Easy package = less time to review = possibly happier officer.

And I play a DPS class (priest) :P I used to heal, but no longer. *cough*

LOL Priest is also a healing class! I stopped playing WOW once I got engaged and began looking for a new job. It was such a time sink, although I admit it was fun because of friends. I used to 95% heal, Healing Pally and Resto Druid, miss it, but I am done with MMOs. VJ is my new MMO (massively multipetitioner online)! rofl.gif

Yeah, WoW definitely sucks a lot of my time laughing.gif But yeah, I think I still play for the social factor. And I healed in Wrath, but when Cata came out, I switched to DPS and haven't changed since then. And Cata and MOP have been good. Some people like them, some people hated it. I'm easy to please, so laughing.gif

Hi Saylin aka Visa Guru

Thanks for you reply. I will wait. What would be your other suggestion if he hadn't mail it? I am sure he can go get a police report again. I think it only took a few hours for him to get.

I agree with the others, you must work for NVC :)

One could always request that the original police certificate (or other certificate) be brought to the interview, due to issues (taking a long time to obtain, hard time to mail, etc). I've seen it work multiple times in the past, but it's no guarantee.

Oh okay, i've made a pact with myself to never play WoW again, but if it's what your social circle does to hang out, that's cool! Maybe one day when i'm a millionaire and don't need to work, i'll get into WoW again! rofl.gif

I know you asked Saylin, but ,Your petition doesn't go out until you get interview scheduled. Don't worry about that status. It may never change from processing at NVC. Mine finally changed to READY when the embassy received 3/14. They been pretty fast with the interview emails so just keep eyes on your email. No worries.

Documents the Applicant Must Submit to the NVC

Original Document Requirements

You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States must submit to the NVC original documents issued by an appropriate authority, or certified copies of those documents listed in this section.

Photocopy Requirements

You and each family member immigrating with you must also submit to the NVC a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

NVC is saying photocopies are required.

Like dwheels said, the case is only sent abroad AFTER an interview date has been assigned. Are you sure you inputted your case number correctly? Does it still show up as that message?

Well, it's not my real-life friends (I don't have those laughing.gif), but they have become my friends since I'm on there most nights.

But yes, it's a good idea to stay away. Some times I wish I can, since I have more important priorities right now, but I can't headbonk.gif

Can you get a certified copy of the marriage certificate? If you married in the US, it should be easy enough.
