Nah, I wouldn't worry about the AP. So many people have used it before, and hardly anyone has ever had any trouble.

When did you apply for your SSN? I did right after I came to the U.S. in January and got the card in my maiden name within 2 work days in the mail. After I got my EAD, I went back there and changed my name, and that also took less then three weeks. I was also able to apply for my Learner Permit with my EAD, and I am currently studying for the driving test... pretty exciting, as I have never owned or driven a car before :)

They really make things hard for us, but well, at least we have made it here, and that's what matters! Remember last year, when we were all freaking out about VSC's processing times!

Yes, my receipt number also starts with MSC for the National Benefits Center. They are known for not updating their online system. I checked a couple of numbers around mine in the online system, and it seems that a whole batch was not put into the system.

Have a great time home in Poland, and keep in touch!! :)

I applied for the SSN in 2011 when I was in the Us for the first time, now I just wanted to change the name on it and its status since I got my EAD. I filed the application and the lady told me that it would take 6-8 weeks to print a new card!! I called them after 10 weeks and it turned out that my application was never put in the system. I went to the SSA office to file for it AGAIN. The guy was really nice but he told me that the system rejects my EAD probably because I am still in the process of AOS and he recommended coming back with the GC, he just gave me a confirmation that I do have a SSN ( I needed it at the DMV). So yea, it's been a bumpy road for me.

I'm in Denmark now, waiting for my flight to DC. The lady at the airport in Poland asked me "Do you have eeeee a green card? Or.... Something?" :D She scared me a little bit that she didn't know about AP but well... It's Poland :D

Good luck with driving :) I've been driving for 5 years no and they wanted to give me a learner's permit too because they didn't have a Polish translator at the DMV to confirm my Polish license. So I got an international one when I was in Poland. Now they will have it in 7 languages! I hope they'll be able to pick one :D

So.... we filed for AOS in March 2013. Just got notification on December 31 that it was approved, and card ordered. Card mailed today :) We did get waived on the interview, so maybe that's why it took so much longer. Just happy, happy, happy!! He's now stuck here with me ;)
