Aiyo - some ppl think is ok, la, to file same day as marriage day.

Just wanted to provide an update my fiance and are finally married; still weird calling him my hubby. So yesterday hubby and I went to see an immigration lawyer just to get some insight on his case prior to submitting all of our paperwork.

The lawyer stated once we filed for our Petition that we would have to contact the judge from his original proceedings or the USICS attorneys to open his case prior to filing an AOS otherwise it would be denied since my hubby extended his stay? I also mentioned to him that my hubby currently has his work permit but he just brushed over that. And not to mention that he was stated the process would cost us $7K and take about 2.5 years. And he does accept payment plans, I was like WTH :angry:

He has anyone ever heard of contacting the judges or attorneys?

Once he is in removal proceedings, which, presumably, an order of supervision is the precursor to, he would need to have the immigration judge terminate those before he was eligible to file for AoS.

I would talk to another lawyer, and ideally several.

Day 407 (2/14/19) Oath ceremony in Dallas, TX
