I'm petitioning for my stepdaughter who is 8 years old. She lives in Thailand. After reading the instructions here and in the USCIS website, I didn't see the affitdavit for support in the list of things to send. Should i send it any way?

with the I-130 ? no.

There's a doc intake process at NVC - the I-864 is handled there. NOT USCIS.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

with the I-130 ? no.

NVC will advice you when to send in forms and documents.

Be sure you understand exactly what is required by the embassy for her to be granted a visa. This involves certian criteria to be met. You have plenty of time at this point. They will supply you with a sample letter for the bio father to sign. It must be done in both languages and in some cases they require the bio father to attend an interview.

Make sure when the time comes to get her medical done in advance of the issuance of the visa. Include time for the shot sequence. In a recent case the hospital insisted on additional time for those shots which delayed the visa.

You need to review the flow charts for C R 1 visas. There are several different phases involved. One is USCIS. Then you deal with NVC ( national visa center). NVC requires certian docs and fees one of which is the support doc along with tax transcripts ect. Once the case clears NVC its sent to BKK.

An 8 year old wont really be interviewed but there will be questions for her mother and as I said in the other post the bio fathers input. This will become central to the case.

Thank you so much. We have them both, the letter and the court order just in case. The bio father is even willing to attend the interview to grant verbal permission as well if needed. Thanks again!
