You can get a passport via applying at the post office.

As to visiting visas to India, maybe try the India forum on here, they may know.

If you walk in to a passport office it can be done the same day. If you do it by post, about a month.

Wife told me that St. Paul is now having same day oaths with the new office manager with a bit more brains. Last one wanted 3,000 applicants before setting up a date. She also had problems finding a space, and occasionally would have to use the Viking Stadium that caused even further delays. Then I talked to a nice young women that worked in filing, had to dig out 3,000 of those thick files for the oath ceremonies. With a same day oath, would save a ton of work, just get it over with.

You already read and signed your oath at the interview in front of an officer, oath ceremony is nothing more that a lip sync service, even surprised they don't have you sign your certificate in front of an officer. And bringing over 3,000 people together at the same place at that same time leads to excessively long lines, a lot of work for the guards for security, all though I don't know why, and a traffic jam and difficult to find a place to park.

Gather oath ceremonies are solely at the discretion of the office manager, luck is having an officer manager with some brains. We weren't lucky.

My husband would have been sooooo excited if I had my oath ceremony at the Vickings Stadium!

But no, mine was in the rather un-ceremonious location of the USCIS office waitingroom in Fort Smith.
