What is necessary and how long before the K1 visa holder can legally work once they enter the US ? The K1 visa holder will already have a SSN from previous visits under a J1 student/working visa

Must AOS and obtain the EAD or GC first.....takes about 3 months once you file......after you marry.

Actually, I believe you can apply for the EAD as soon as you enter the US. You don't have to wait until you're married and pursuing AOS.

True. Costs $340 and the EAD expires with your I-94, about 2-3 weeks after you get the EAD if you file for it immediately on arriving. Then you lose your legal to work status until your green card arrives. Great idea.

GET MARRIED...file AOS and add the applications for the EAD and AP for FREE with the I-485, then they will be valid until your green card comes.

Ohhh, didn't realize that the EAD expired with I-94, if you do it this way. What a stupid rule! (Thanks for pointing it out, though!)

So my fiancee can pay a fee of $340 for Employment Authorization Document, but it will expire within 2-3 weeks ? However, alternatively she can file for an Employment Authorization Document and Advanced Parole at the same time as filing for AOS ?

It will expire with your fiancee's I-94 (generally 90 days after entering the U.S.). I agree with the others - get married and file for AOS and at the same time for EAD and AP. Costs for all together: $1070 (the costs of the EAD and AP are included in the AOS fee).

Yep when you file along with AOS, those are for free. It's a three-fer.
