Bringing Mom over who used to be a resident....

Hello All,

I am new here and I am in a different situation so I figured I'd get some advice. My mom was a permanet resident from 1989 to 2005 and went back to the United Kingdom after she divorced my dad to live with her parents. Well... she hasn't really done anything with her green card but recently came over to visit and had to forfeit her green card and undeclare her residency because she had not been in the country for the past years. Anyways, I am a US Citizen and I would like to petition my mother to come over and live here for good so she can see her grandchildren and live close to us. What would be the first step I would have to go through and what is the processing time like right now? Do I need to see a lawyer since she was a permanent resident and is no longer... or is it the same process? Thank you.

Regular I-130 process for mom. Check out the guides at the top of each page: http://www.visajourney.com/content/immigration-parents-overview

Make sure to list mom's A# and SSN where requested, she has those already. I'd expect 10-12 months processing time.
