My K1 interview is on 8th of March and I am currently finishing year 1 of a 2 year MBA program in India. We have waited long enough for the visa process and want to be together asap. However it would also be sensible to complete the program. My question is, are we allowed to study on the K visa ? I tried looking it up but definitive answer is not available. Also our plan is below, please let us know if you think there might be any issues

- 8th march : hopefully approval and visa valid till say 10th September 2013

- College's term 4 over : 30th August 2013

- Fly to US to get married ( 1st september )

- Stay for 3.5 months and complete a term of study in US

- December 2013 : fly back to India after getting AP , complete the last 2 months of education, fly back in March 2014.

Any help/guidance will be highly appreciated.

Depends on the school really. Some might require the green card, while others may not. Check with the school you wish to attend.

The main flaw I see with your plan is the leaving on AP from Dec. - Mar. to attend school. Not everyone adjusting from a K-1 gets called for an interview, but about half do. You would need to be available to attend your interview if you should get one.

Yes you can but you may not want to. Many colleges will charge foreign tuition even after you get your green card. It varies by school. In Califonria for the first year after you move to California you pay out of state rates which makes the school expensive.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Thanks for your quick response. So yes, the interview might be scheduled when I am in India, in that case I will fly right away and will be present for the interview. That should take care of it right ? Please help me if i am missing anything.
