WOW 'pop the cork' - a LIBERAL victory in Chicago

<yawn> Why is this news or something to get excited about? The fact that the NRA has no, zero influence in the city with the highest murder and uncontrolled violence rate in the nation is something to be proud of. The fact that the city with the highest murder and uncontrolled violence rate in the nation follows and supports the liberal agenda is something else.

Guess you have to blame "something other" than the NRA for this one huh

Do you even read anymore? It was a Democratic primary. The NRA supported one candidate. Bloomberg and the netroots supported another candidate. Bloomberg's candidate won.

i don't get it.

You could always attempt to blame it on the amount of poverty, caused by corporate greed when they moved production out of the area to nonunion states. Of course the solution to poverty as we all know is more federal dollars to those that have no work.

I actually watched the stupidity of a union in Chicago. I was working with a company fighting a shrinking market for their products, and lower priced competition from overseas. They attempted to negotiate with their union, lower pay and less vacation time to keep the plant in Chicago. This was the 80's mind you, and the average worker made $32 per hour, and had 6 weeks of vacation per year plus two weeks sick time. Seriously I was jealous, these people didn't even have to be high school grads, yet they were pulling over 60K a year without overtime, which they did a lot of, and had 2 months paid off per year. Even when the company said there is no way we can stay in Chicago if we even match the last contract, the union kept demanding higher pay. The company started building a plant in Tennessee, and still the workers blindly kept demanding higher pay. I was at the plant, a week before it was set to close, machines were already being moved out and workers were starting to get laid off, and still the union had the workers believing it was just the company bluffing.

About a month later I was down at the Tennessee plant, assisting some machine startups. The workers were getting paid $15 per hour and there had been a huge turnout of people trying to get hired because the pay was so high for the area. I couldn't help but wonder what the former employees were doing in back in Chicago.

Yes, the unions served a purpose at one point in history and did alot of good things for workers. However, that time has passed. Detroit is another shining example of what happens when you try to hold on to the old way of doing things.

A politician gets bought in Chicago and the liberals celebrate a victory. Has the fact that Chicago politicians can be bought by liberals changed Chicago for the good? Even the question is a joke. I've been to a lot of places where there are a lot of guns and no violence. I've been to a lot of places where there is a lot of poverty and no violence. I have never even read about a place however where American liberals are in charge that the streets are safe. Some victory. I'm quite proud to be at the short end of THAT victory and would be ashamed if any organization I would be involved in would be affiliated with what places like Chicago have become today.
