[quote name=^_^' timestamp='1361982495' post='6008545]Do you even read anymore? It was a Democratic primary. The NRA supported one candidate. Bloomberg and the netroots supported another candidate. Bloomberg's candidate won.

Won BIG! The Bloomberg PAC put the NRA's A rating around the neck of the candidate they opposed while their candidate wore the NRA's F rating as a badge of honor and it appears that this worked. From a funding perspective, the NRA has got nothing on Bloomberg's PAC. Nothing.

A black progressive candidate had structural advantages in that district which Bloomberg's money simply enabled. I do not believe you'd see the same blowout in a caucasian CD with low crime rates and high gun ownership rates if you pit Bloomberg's PAC against the NRA.

Sure, it won't work everywhere but it may work in a sufficient number of districts to get to some sanity around gun acquisition regulations and such.

I think you'd need to remove everyone and not return a single democrat or republican to office to get any sanity in the gun debate.

Politicians are usually pretty good at doing the math. Once an A rating from the NRA jeopardizes and an F rating improves their odds to be re-elected, I think you'll see changes. You see, the NRA A candidate that lost this primary tried to run from her NRA rating best she knew how to. Just didn't manage to run fast and far enough because at every turn, the Bloomberg PAC re-attached that A rating to her. The message: if you run from your NRA ties only during the campaign, you will lose.

But as someone pointed out, this was urban Chicago. Chicago is a rather strange beast politically. In my suburban district, the NRA A rating might even get a democrat elected, if the republican candidate had an F rating. But only just might. BTW I am in Michelle Bachman's district, so that should give you an idea of the political views of this district.

sorry about that...

She did a damn good job scaring USCIS to get off their butts and get my wife's AOS completed. I was almost grateful enough to vote for her, even if she is a nut case. But there was a decent third party candidate, so I went that way. I guess I can always look at Michelle Bachman in congress as the mental ill need representation to

Some Congressional Reps and Senators have very good constituent services offices. I am happy to hear Bachmann is one of them.

I have had similarly positive experiences working with Congressman Pallone's office (Democrat from NJ). Senator Menendez and Lautenberg are well known for having unresponsive and rude constituent services offices.
