Rin's children came here from Thailand at ages 6, 8, and 11. Now 12, 13, and 17. They made friends quickly, do well in school, and love living in the USA. They haven't been back to Thailand since 2007 and don't really want to go even to visit. They did arrive in October so started school immediately. It may have been boring to arrive in the summer when friends would have been harder to find.

^^^ I think that's true.

Chinook's nephew came to the U.S. from the Philippines five years ago when he was six years old. He adjusted very quickly. His English has no accent. In school, he's at the top of his class.

The only problem is that he understands Tagalog perfectly and his parents speak to him in Tagalog, but he won't speak it. He always answers his parents in English.
