DS230 to NVC or Consulate

Hey all,

We are so confused!! We don't understand what to do with the DS230 for my husband, who is in Sydney.

We just received an email from the NVC requesting our DS230 and the supporting documents, but the US Consulate website says those things are required for the interview! Should my husband send in the DS230 Part 1 and supporting documents (marriage cert, etc.) to the NVC or just send in the DS230 and bring the supporting documents to the interview?

too many directions and we just want him here.

Make two copies of the DS-230, one to send to the NVC and one for your husband to bring with him to the interview. Make sure he only signs the first part, NOT PART II. Part II has to be signed at the Embassy in front of the CO.

Send supporting documents to the NVC and also send your husband a set of copies so he can bring that also to the Embassy.

Relationship and I-130 Process

Sometime in October, 2011: We met online talking about Argentina.
Later in October: Met in person in Philadelphia and became good friends.
March 4, 2012: Became girlfriend and boyfriend, officially.
March 21: Gloria leaves the US at the end of her J-1 Visa.
April 9: Got engaged!
May 12-26: Chris visits Buenos Aires.
May 18: Got married in Argentina :) Happy day!!
May 29: Sent out I-130
June 4: NOA1 received.
August 17-20: Chris visits again.
September 22-29: Chris 3rd visit, Gloria's birthday!
November 11-January 5: Chris stays in Argentina almost 2 months, Gloria is happy!
December 28: NOA2 YAY!!!
December 31: Package received at NVC.
January 18, 2013: Got case # and IIN.
February 6: Case complete!!
February 11: Interview assigned.
February 25: Package received at Embassy in Buenos Aires.
March 18: Interview Approved!!
March 28: Visa received.
March 29: Houston POE

April 11: received greencard!!!!!!!

January 9, 2015: sent out form I-751

yes he needs them for the interview but NVC is the processing center for those documents . So he has to send the DS 230( he should fill out part 1 and 2 but ONLY signs part 1) and also send original and copies of ALL civil documents to NVC with the Ds 230.

You can then make a duplicate of the NVC package and mail to your husband for him to have as backup.

read the instructions on NVC shortcuts on this site or go to NVC February 2013 filers under progress forum and read 1st and 2nd posts for guidance.

CR-1 (for Husband):
09/15/2012: Got Married
09/26/2012: Mailed I-130 from Nigeria( delayed by customs)
USCIS stage ( 66 days)
10/12/2012: NOA 1
12/17/2012: NOA 2 (case was transferred to NYC office 11/27/12)
NVC stage ( 20 days)
01/08/2013: Case # and IIN assigned ( file arrived NVC mail room 12/20/12)
01/09/2013: AOS invoiced and paid, DS-3032 emailed and mailed.
01/16/2013: IV invoiced &paid. AOS & IV mailed in one package(arrived 01/18).
01/28/2013: Case complete!!!
04/19/2013: Interview; APPROVED!!!!!
05/13/2013: POE; JFK

N-400: (3 months and 12 days)
Filed N-400 : 2011-06-17
Interview: 2011-09-27
Oath Ceremony: 2011-09-30

IR-5 for Mom Entire process took 5 months exactly
USCIS (22days)
mailed I-130 : 2011-09-30
NOA 1: 2011-10-03 (text & email)
NOA 2: 2011-10-25 (text and email)
NVC: (19 days)
Case entered and # assigned: 2011-11-18
NVC Case COMPLETED: 2011-12-07 ( 43 days from NOA 2 and 65 days from NOA 1)
Interview Date(Lagos): 2012-01- 23 Mom was late for interview
New Interview date: 2012-02-29 : VISA APPROVED
