Processing Times?

I see the timeline that Visa Journey put together, but the processing times vary, correct? It is my understanding that this can take 1-6 months. I tried to click on the link but I really do not understand how to go through it. Does the processing time depend on the country of the beneficiary? On average, does anyone know the processing times for Ukraine vs. Nigeria for a K-1? The reason I ask, is because for a visitor's visa, in Abuja, it takes an average of 90 days to obtain an appointment versus 1-2 weeks in Kiev (this is keeping in mind no cancellations).

This is for a K-1 Fiancee Visa

In theory anyway, the processing times for the petition (I-129f) do not vary by country. In practice it is not unusual for petitions for beneficiaries from countries which are considered to harbor terrorists take longer. Ukraine is not one of those countries.

Processing times for VISAs vary greatly depending on the consulate. Ukraine has always been fairly quick about making an interview appointment.

Expect 8-10 months for visa issuance. Expecting less than that will probably result in disappointment. For Ukraine, figure 2 months after the petition approval for the NVC stage and the interview appointment.

For NOA2, time does vary but not really by beneficiary country really(rarely, like haiti seems to get expedited) but otherwise USUALLY a person is a person, while waiting for noa2, they are processed all together, mixed up by date(usually too ahaha) and they are processed in the US so the beneficiary county doesnt even know about the petition yet and thats just how it goes. I understand some people need extra background checks sometimes bu ive seen people have that done even from england or germany. :)

How long did it take you from when you first submitted the I-129F? We are still in the process of putting these documents together, but must be sent by the end of this week!

So technically, if we wait the 90 days to get married, we won't be married until 1 year from now?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Nothing MUST be sent by the end of this week. Why? Make sure it is correct, then send it.

No one can tell you how long the process will take for YOU at the moment you file. We had the petition approved in 58 days and waited 3 months for an interview. We got married 8 days after Alla arrived, but that is your decision.

Presently it seems like it is taking up to 7 months for the NOA2, then NVC 2-8 weeks, then the Ukraine consulate 2-8 weeks.

DO NOT PLAN on him having a visa in less than 8 months, but probably less than 10 months. I, nor anyone, can tell you anything else. DO NOT MAKE marriage or travel plans until the visa is IN HIS HAND. There are far too many problems which can delay things and any one of them could delay your case. There is NO tracking system that gives accurate information, expecting that will result in frustration.

File the petition, prepare for the interview and prepare for your new life. You have plenty to do and NONE of it regards how long it takes for someone else to do their job. The rest will happen when it happens, you have no control over it and no way to know when. That's how it works. Do YOUR part and let someone else do theirs.
