There should be a VIP line for K1 processing

There was nothing easy about the wait. But I never wanted to pay to jump ahead of people already waiting. It never crossed my mind. I would obsessively check that stupid website, hoping my status would change, and it didn't. So what did I do? I stopped checking. I stopped coming here. I stopped spending every day wondering when my approval would come. I got on with my life, spent time with family that I'd eventually be leaving, I made preparations to move.

I don't think people should be able to throw money at a process and receive better service than the people who can't afford it. The end.

You are not seeing the point I was trying to make... You are focusing on jumping ahead of people, I wasn't suggesting that at all but I am done explaining what I meant

LETS ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY TODAY

Those who are waiting, GOOD LUCK

Those who are NOT waiting, GOOD LUCK

The people who have waited a month or two and already don't know what to do what themselves because the wait is sooooo hard and unfair. Those people.

And in 5-8 months, they'll be the same people posting "Just got married, WHAT NOW?!" threads. Guaranteed.

Good luck. :)

I think there should be a VIP K1 processing where they can process your K1 within a month for an extra fee. I am sure a lot of us would gladly pay more rather then just wait  Obviously the name would not be VIP but you get my point.

Don't you guys agree?

I was going to agree, but then I read the reply:

"Immigration should NEVER be a system where the people who can afford to pay more get better service."

And I'll have to agree.

But here are my thoughts on the K1 visa process:

Why not treat it like a Tourist visa?

Anyone, anywhere in the world, can apply for a tourist visa to the USA and get it the same day or within a week at most.

Since the fiancee is admitted into the USA for 90 days and - if not married by the 90th day - she's required to leave; why not treat her as a trourist? If the USC marries her, her visa is extended another 90 days and a Permanent Resident application starts to be processed. Sure, there are some technicalities that would need to be worked out (for example: before entering the US, make sure she's free to marry and has no criminal past etc...), but all this be streamlined greatly.

There is nothing about the two visas that are similar. Your view of what it takes to get a tourist visa is totaly flawed. It can be very difficult or impossible for many people to get a tourist visa and it takes much longer than a day or a week.

The rich to the front, the poor to the back of the line.

Your thinking is very primitive.

Waiting in line is fair. I don't have a problem with expediting visas when it comes to work visas, however. Even with that possibility, we have a dinosaur of a system that makes it very difficult to recruit talent in STEM fields. We are shooting ourselves in the foot in that area.

And let's face it, if there was a fee to expidite fiancé/spousal visas, there are a lot of folks who would pay it. But you really think those extra fees would be used to hire more processors? In the end, you'd pay more for the same wait.

Just that the senators or better say their proxies have their own judgement about what is inside or outside normal processing time. Like mine wouldn't want to look at it but some other people who filed after me have been already approved with senators help.

Senators are useless you can contact them all you want but they never receive those letters you send nor do they themselves ever get their well manicured hands dirty with something like this, they have old crones with no hearts that are angry that we chose to marry someone from outside of the USA. They are bitter and rude. They also think this is a waste of their time. I had one ask me why I could not find a nice American girl to marry. LOL I just laughed and told her it was really none of her business. Uness you know someone personally at VSC, CSC, or USCIS you can hang up getting processed faster the 5 to 9 months!

I knew this would happen from the start when it was posted. Being a HOT topic doesn't mean that it is a GOOD topic. This topic has become a war-zone of personal attacks. The mods should consider closing this thread before it escalates more.

I think waiting in line is fair but come on each petition is different the guy might have a mile long rap sheet or there is a national security issue set that one aside and go to the next one don't sit there and wait for that one petition to be approved before you move to the next but according to uscis they have to go in order.

If they go in order, as you say, how do you explain the lucky few who get approved in shorter than average time? Working cases in order is not the (whole?) story. There are more vagaries built into (arising in spit of?) this system, so that first-come, first-served is at best a "goal".

I think it was a GOOD topic.

I agree. It is all hypothetical. It is not as if any of us have decision-making authority.

As far as a war-zone of personal attacks... I haven't seen that. There are have been a couple of shots across the bow, but on the whole people seem to be keeping it civil.
