We can pay to expedite the issuance of a passport. Why not allow for payment to expedite the issuance of a K-1 (or any other visa)?

For those of you who say that it is only a "few" months, it is much more than that for so many. How about those of us with children (citizen children, mind you) growing up without us? I am not asking for consideration based on that, but give me the option to weigh my needs and pony up if I can.

Someone on the thread said that if 30 folks apply and 25 pay an expedite fee, that it is unfair to the 5 who didn't or couldn't. Let's say that the expedite is double the fee. Let's further say that my visa fee (340) paid for almost 8 hours of an FTE. My expedite fee pays for 16 hours. So I get fast tracked, big deal. I just paid for another adjudicator. Everyone could benefit from allowing fast tracking. Now we all wait 8 months? a year? Double the manpower, we could maybe drive it down to 4 to 6 months (with expedited folks getting to get out with 2 or 3 months). Everybody wins.

 FINALLY someone understands my point...

Not sure why people take this very personal, it was just an opinion and I wanted to know how other people felt but I guess most of them focused on the wrongs aspects of VIP

I think there should be a VIP K1 processing where they can process your K1 within a month for an extra fee. I am sure a lot of us would gladly pay more rather then just wait  Obviously the name would not be VIP but you get my point.

Don't you guys agree?

Haha..I felt the same way initially but am going to say no,cos its unfair. But what is fair these days?! Did you know it is much easier to bring your wife and kids if you have H1 visa,I know someone whose wife was here in 23 days. Now you tell me what is fair in this system. I am at the stage where I found that it takes around 2 months to get an interview at my consulate, pulled up the interview schedule and guess what.. loads and loads of h1,ir5,f4 visa categories on interview slots. It was my understanding that IR-1 and K-1 gets prioritized first but it is what it is...the game of luck!

If I were to do this again, would have applied for a tourist visa first for my love then started all this paperwork...now its just a waiting game. Good luck to you on your visajourney.

It's brought up literally every time someone doesn't want to wait. They want to throw money at the problem and jump to the front of the line. It doesn't work that way, and it shouldn't, for obvious reasons.

So says Mr 4 month NOA2-er.

Is this what this site has become? Judging someone's opinions or viewpoints based on how long they had to wait for a piece of paper saying they were approved? Fantastic. What a lovely community.

So if 25 people are placed in the express line and only 5 folks are in the normal line doesn't that mean that those 5 are gonna get approved faster? I see it all the time at the supermarket.

Immigration isn't a supermarket. At the supermarket, the line ends. The petitions do not end. Once those 25 are done, more will come in, more will pay for a faster journey, and those who didn't pay will be pushed to the back of the line all over again.

Might I add, that I also traveled to see my fiancée 5 times during the whole 7-month ordeal. And another 4 times before we even filed. (Sarcasm, in case you don't get it).

Listen, think about this: If a "VIP" fee were affordable, don't you think that EVERYBODY would pay it? And then, wouldn't the "VIP" line, be saturated as well?

This whole process is long and painful, and everybody is different. We had a ridiculously hard time while we waited. I will not disclose the reasons here. Everybody, everybody, wants to be with their loved one. Nobody wants to wait, but we all have to.

Nobody having an advantage is the fairest way.

No. But have some compassion. You also made it out in 4 months. I am happy for you. But look at how many are now having to wait 200, 250 or 300 days. They are struggling far worse than you had too.

Full disclosure: I am less than 90 days in. I have no idea how I will suffer the wait (although I know that I will, because I have absolutely no choice in the matter).

While I don't think there should be an expedited service for an additional fee, I do think that there is no reason for the long delays. We pay a fee for a service. The goal for ALL types should be 30 days and if they don't have enough people, hire more IOs. Hire part time IOs that are willing to work weekends or just when demand is high or add a shift!

Finished!

I have compassion. I did not make it out in four months. I waited five, then waited an additional four for my interview. And then when I had my visa, personal circumstances made it so that I had to wait another four months to move. And then when it came time to file for AOS, they lost my medical paperwork. I had to wait an additional three months and pay an additional $300 to have it redone.

I know that the wait sucks. I get it. But those who wait longer shouldn't have a superiority complex as if their wait was worse than anyone else's. We all wait. We all get through it.

Spend your time getting ready for the next chapter of your life. There is so much to do, so much to think about, so much to prepare. Take time doing that. These few months that you will wait will be forgotten.

Nobody wants to wait but we do it because we have no other choice. Did you want to wait? When you received your NOA1, how long did you want to wait? Its easier for you because you are already got your NOA2.

If there was an option to expedite the process for extra fee, so what? It doesn't mean take my money, process my visa first then get to others. With more money they would hire more people to do the same job.

People talk about not being fair for others. How does it NOT fair when USCIS will hire more people for processing all because of those who paid? Yes it will be unfair if they don't increase their staff and I was not suggesting that AT ALL. I was only saying that if there are some people who are willing and can afford to pay more to get their visas processed faster, then USCIS will increase their staff to do that. Keep in mind that EVERYBODY is in the same batch right now. Processing times for both who paid and didn't pay will get shorter...

There was nothing easy about the wait. But I never wanted to pay to jump ahead of people already waiting. It never crossed my mind. I would obsessively check that stupid website, hoping my status would change, and it didn't. So what did I do? I stopped checking. I stopped coming here. I stopped spending every day wondering when my approval would come. I got on with my life, spent time with family that I'd eventually be leaving, I made preparations to move.

I don't think people should be able to throw money at a process and receive better service than the people who can't afford it. The end.

The flaw in taking more fees for expedited service is that if they offered it, they would just take the money and squander it on some bu!!$h!t instead of your application, just like every other government entity. Just like they have already taken in the regular fees of most post July 18 and August filers, and not processed them.

On that point alone, I say no.

Their love must be stronger than mine, because I somehow didn't lose my god damn mind during the process of waiting for some paperwork.
