There should be a VIP line for K1 processing

What a huge thread. I guess I could see both sides. My biggest hatred of the process was sitting on "initial processing" for months on end. Family members, friends, co-workers always asking if you heard anything and 9 months deep into the process you're still saying, "well they've received it." That leads to the unavoidable discussion with others in complete disbelief of how long and much money this process takes. "There's no way it should be this hard. People come here all the time and they don't pay or wait." Well those people are called illegal immigrants. Thank God I don't have to explain this K-1 process to people anymore..... well except to help people on here of course :)

Plus, your life is completely on hold....... gee should my fiance renew her car insurance for another year? Oh wait we can't cus we're in frickin' limbo and she could be leaving sometime in the next six months......... maybe. I wished there was a way to pay my way out of it many times but I certainly would not want to screw over others. I rarely get into situations where I'm completely helpless and I guess that's where the real frustration comes from.

BUT, we made it through, so have many others, and so will many others. Hopefully soon for the waiting!

I couldn't agree with you more on sitting on "initial processing" stage. There should be many stages in initial processing to keep us updated. We need to know somehow that somebody is working on our petition.

I think we all agree that something defiantly needs to be changed the way they are processing the K1 visas... It didn't use to take this long and processing times get longer and longer as we go. If it means to increase the initial fee to get faster processing time then I am for it. Otherwise it makes no sense why they are not being processed in the same order they received them.

Those of you who disagree with me either already got their NOA2 or about to get them... Anyone who just got their NOA1 would gladly pay more money to get their NOA2 rather then just wait... Someone already mentioned there are already premium processing for other applications, why not K1? It shouldn't take 7 months

Dude you are at 1.5 month mark and you cannot wait.

K1 was always 6-7 months there is a process that they have to go thru, before they let anyone in the country they have to establish the relationship is real.

There is no visa fraud, the backgrounds are clear etc.

For your individual convience the process cannot be changed to fit your needs.

I am not saying it will happen to you but hypothetically say you and your fiance go seprate ways and you are bitter at her and would want the govt to throw her out of the country, can govt do that no they cannot do just coz you want it.

Unfortunately present administration is more worried about illegals and how to fix the situation for them and not for individual who have gone thru legal process and paid their dues.

So very true. That scenario has been told here on VJ too many times too. This whole topic is like those people in school who cut in the lunch line because their friend lets them cut in front of everyone else.

I agree it shouldn't be that long. It is such a pain.

But is your love any better if you can pay more? I doubt it. This would not be fair at all for people...

I agree that there should probably be tougher requirements to avoid scammers.... but should it take more time? I totally disagree with this... Spending 8 months away when you are in love is a pain. For someone who is not in love it is nothing. People who want to scamm a USC will be perfectly ok spend months and months waiting if it is leading to a GC. It is still faster than 8 or 9 years.

Making the process longer would not stop them, but it would be even more of a pain for people in love.

And there are people who will be scammed whatever rules you put up. There are USC that are scammed by USC... not for a GC, but for money, security, whatever... (and that happens in other countries too...). Utltimatly, individuals should protect themselves on their own (but I get your point though.)

 Great point you make here!

They just need to hire more people until things are caught up. Invest money into employees and in turn gain more tax paying citizens.

DUDE I am not saying I can't wait, again I only expressed my OPINION... Providing more updates on our status doesn't mean change the process. If its not going to work out, it will not work out even if I wait a year...

#######... it makes no sense... How does this have anything to do with waiting 7 months....

A system that was reliable according to what it says... I agree paying money is totally wrong. I am challenged not by the length of time but the inability to plan my life.... having something of a timeframe I could trust would be my ask. Whether that is a year or 6 months... that I could order plans to it (work contracts and so on). Right now I cant commit to anything as we anticipated sometime in January (5 months was Jan 9th) .....we could hear any time now... yet it could also be many months more of waiting given the numbers that are coming through and the numbers that were filed in July that still havent heard!

Filed early August ... NOA 1: 9 August... waiting.....

Honestly, I would be content at this point if USCIS would have their IT guy update the processing times to sometime in 2013.

The whole idea that "VIP" should get preferential treatment when it comes to immigration, to me, is ridiculous. And infuriating.

We can pay to expedite the issuance of a passport. Why not allow for payment to expedite the issuance of a K-1 (or any other visa)?

For those of you who say that it is only a "few" months, it is much more than that for so many. How about those of us with children (citizen children, mind you) growing up without us? I am not asking for consideration based on that, but give me the option to weigh my needs and pony up if I can.

Someone on the thread said that if 30 folks apply and 25 pay an expedite fee, that it is unfair to the 5 who didn't or couldn't. Let's say that the expedite is double the fee. Let's further say that my visa fee (340) paid for almost 8 hours of an FTE. My expedite fee pays for 16 hours. So I get fast tracked, big deal. I just paid for another adjudicator. Everyone could benefit from allowing fast tracking. Now we all wait 8 months? a year? Double the manpower, we could maybe drive it down to 4 to 6 months (with expedited folks getting to get out with 2 or 3 months). Everybody wins.

No, because then everyone would pay the extra fee and we'd be back to square one!

PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE!!

If everyone pays, great! They have twice the funding. They can easily hire and train more staff, driving processing times down across the board.

Edit: twice the funding, based on my hypothetical double expedite fee, of course.
