Two items 1) ability to handle stress; 2) desire to have stress. They are separate issues, thus mutually exclusive; i.e. independent of each other; they stand alone. Things which are "not mutually exclusive" are inter-related; i.e. dependent on each other.

At least that is what I meant. I get your point either way and agree with you.

Right, I see you agree in spirit with my meaning, even if we disagree on the syntax. I meant the phrase in the sense that you can have both the desire for less, and ability to handle it at the same time. That you weren't limited to being in one state of mind, or the other. :)

Also, think of all the Canadian Musicians and Celebrities that become popular and just magically end up in the USA for the rest of their lives. They don't even marry Americans. Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morrissette, (okay, I know this list of Canadian Celebs is embarrassing) Bryan Adams, Wayne Gretsky,Tom Green. None of them even live in Canada anymore.

Mehh.. I think they might've invested. Foreigners investing in US seem quite plausible.

Plus, there are different rules when it comes to certain skills and qualifications.

Basically, if one has nothing or very little to offer, odds are that the same person is more likely to become a public charge. And in all fairness, I admit that I don't have 15 years of success within a certain field. But I don't sit and vent about it. Why should I? If someone has skills, I'm the last to envy them - I appluse it. Be mad at yourself for not reaching the same level of success or do something about it. It's special treatment because the US is gaining something.

Regardless, it's a priviledge, not a right, to immigrate. Same goes for visiting.

Most couples will fail after x amount of time spent together. Being apart puts the relationship on hold and very little is happening during that time. So most couples will survive the waiting time because of their beautiful dreams and expectations and many will fail once they are finally together because they didn't spend enough time together before or they changed during the wait. The whole concept of K1 visa with people meeting each other only for few weeks, then being separated for many months and then forced to marry in 90 days is a big cause of marriage failure.

 Right on.

I will say it. We as Americans and American Government are hypocrites. If it works for us and helps our country then we do it. If it does not then Get in _______________________________________________________________________line

That's not really hypocritical though. It's kind of common sense. Someone who is a demonstrated quantifiable benefit to the nation or the economy gets an easier way in. A world famous multimillionaire celebrity, sports personality, etc is pretty obviously not going to become a petty criminal, public charge, or illegally employed tax evader.

I think there should be a VIP K1 processing where they can process your K1 within a month for an extra fee. I am sure a lot of us would gladly pay more rather then just wait  Obviously the name would not be VIP but you get my point.

Don't you guys agree?

I think you should have to pay the AOS fee at the same time as the I-129f filing. You have to anyway, may as well get it over with

I had a girlfriend in Arizona who did the exact same thing. She didn't want to wait it out for the K1 Visa. She went to AZ on the pretext of "visiting family". Her lawyer advised her to do this and then get married. She did that and got her conditional GC 6 months after the lawyer filed. By the way, the lawyer that she had was used to teach immigration law in Phoenix.

If only my Fiance' didn't have a home, car and possessions we might have lied and expedited this entire process.

I know. She was quite sneaky in how she brought her vehicle over as well as other items. At least her GC is only a conditional one and she has to file her ROC.

I wonder if her lawyer had connections with someone at USCIS

... well I guess having less than 3 mths wait for an NOA2 doesn't give you much to complain about. Congratulations... I wish that was the standard wait time.. All the best to you both. (F)

I know mine didn't take very long, but we still have a lot of stress on us. I really wish the best for you and I hope your case gets processed quickly.

The wait is almost over! <3

I wish there was a way to speed things up. As of right now there is no VIP line or whatever you want to call it. The wait sucks I know that. One of my coworkers just filled out his paperwork to bring his fiance here back in October and about once a week he is always asking me if I looked on that website to see if they had any progress. One thing to try and do is get a hobby or go to the gym, going to the gym is a big stress relief. If anything I think the wait helped us and made us grow stronger. As someone has said read up on the forums about the next steps because a lot of people say "just married what do I do next?" or "Just got NAO2 what do I do?". Another thing to think about is what will you do if a loved one dies back in the beniciary's home country? Have that discussion between the two of you and what you will do before they come here instead of the spur of the moment type thing when it does happen. If you look at my timeline in my signature Pui's brother unexpectly passed away a short time after we applied for Pui's AOS. Because we had already applied for AOS and for the AP document we were able to make an info pass and get an emergancy AP from our local field office so she could go home for 2 weeks. We were planning on going back to Thailand later this year but since Pui's father is sick she just left for Thailand yesterday. I will be joining her there in 5 weeks and then we will both return back here together. I am no Doctor but I do not know if her Dad will still be with us when I get there or how long he will live.

So my question is for the people still waiting for the NOA2 do you know what paperwork needs to be done for packet 3, AOS, or had a discussion with your significant other about if a loved one over seas gets sick or passes away? Couple other things I thought about is do you know what you need to do to get a drivers license for your spouse, do you know where to signup for and go to free or paid for ESL classes in your area if English is not your spouses first language and they want to take classes, do you know where you can find or buy groceries from your spouses country in your area where you live? There are so many other things to think about or do before they get here. The process is not fun and we are all trying to do the same thing which is to get our loved one here and I wish everybody the best of luck on your journeys.

Well, speaking for myself, I have already done all of that by November. So now I'm just stewing, waiting for the noa2. Which is why the only thing to do now even related to the process is scrutinize the VJ data for CSC filers and become angrier each day there is no change in their processing.

By letting the embassy handle the visa pre-USCIS involvement, not only would the process be shorter for loved ones to get to the USA, but the workload on USCIS would be reduced making the process more efficient.

EXACTLY. And that's what I meant by saying treat the K-1 visa like a tourist visa (both - BTW - are classified as Non-immigrant visas). No petition would need to be filed by the USC. The fiance(e) gathers evidence of the relationship (they still would need to have met in person at least once), fills a one-page application at the consulate and gets the visa stamped in her passport after a successful interview.

How fast are investor visas?

Obviously the K1/CR1 isn't self-sufficient financially. How much do you think they would have to raise the fees to make it so? Would that be such a bad thing? With a K1 you already have to be able to financially support your spouse until they get their GC. What if that were faster?

If you can afford the support, can't you afford an extra fee?

I have a hard time thinking K1 isn't self-sufficient. 340 dollars buys me at least 8 FTE hours. That should be more than enough time to process the petition. I bet in general it takes them much less time. Then in this process we have the visa fee, AOS and biometrics. We are looking at more than 1500 at the end of it all. What is that? Like almost a full week of an FTE. I am paying 1/4 or 1/5 of a whole employee's month. And how many of us are there? I realize that the fees go to different agencies (AOS and 129F are USCIS, visa is state I bet, and not sure who biometrics go to (FBI??)) But still...

I think I read 1500 applicants to CSC alone for K1 each month. That's half a million to CSC alone. Each month. Just for K1.
