I think there should be a VIP K1 processing where they can process your K1 within a month for an extra fee. I am sure a lot of us would gladly pay more rather then just wait  Obviously the name would not be VIP but you get my point.

Don't you guys agree?

Everytime a new individual who falls in love and submitts his or her K1, they come up with this idea as if they are the only one who has thought of this. As if they are the only indiviual in the world who wants to be first.

Belive me, his is like everyother month. No one is entitled to by pass those who are in front of them regardless of the amount of money you can use to move ahead. All individual are considered equal.

I was going to agree, but then I read the reply:

"Immigration should NEVER be a system where the people who can afford to pay more get better service."

And I'll have to agree.

But here are my thoughts on the K1 visa process:

Why not treat it like a Tourist visa?

Anyone, anywhere in the world, can apply for a tourist visa to the USA and get it the same day or within a week at most.

Since the fiancee is admitted into the USA for 90 days and - if not married by the 90th day - she's required to leave; why not treat her as a trourist? If the USC marries her, her visa is extended another 90 days and a Permanent Resident application starts to be processed. Sure, there are some technicalities that would need to be worked out (for example: before entering the US, make sure she's free to marry and has no criminal past etc...), but all this be streamlined greatly.

I would have been glad to pay it as I can afford it, but I don't think it would be fair to others that couldn't. So, I would have to disagree with you.

No.

Immigration should NEVER be a system where the people who can afford to pay more get better service.

I agree. What it should be is the applications are processed in the order received, as well as fairly and evenly across the types of applications. Unfortunately, that is not the case either.

I'd like to see better service for everyone. If higher fees from everyone is what it takes, then I'll support that.

However if there was the option to pay a fee and fast track a case, I would do it without a doubt.

I agree it shouldn't be that long. It is such a pain.

But is your love any better if you can pay more? I doubt it. This would not be fair at all for people...

Not only I do not agree with you on this one, as I believe the K-1 process should be longer, more demanding and require far more scrutiny. You need not look much farther than this forum to find out countless reports of those who were scammed by foreign fiances/fiancees.

The question I ask you in return is, how can you not envisage spending a few months away from the very person with whom you will swear to spend the rest of your life?

I agree that there should probably be tougher requirements to avoid scammers.... but should it take more time? I totally disagree with this... Spending 8 months away when you are in love is a pain. For someone who is not in love it is nothing. People who want to scamm a USC will be perfectly ok spend months and months waiting if it is leading to a GC. It is still faster than 8 or 9 years.

Making the process longer would not stop them, but it would be even more of a pain for people in love.

And there are people who will be scammed whatever rules you put up. There are USC that are scammed by USC... not for a GC, but for money, security, whatever... (and that happens in other countries too...). Utltimatly, individuals should protect themselves on their own (but I get your point though.)

Good luck in your visa journey!

What I don't understand is this wasn't you in love before you filed the K1, so what makes your love any different after you have filed. Pior to filing you were separated, so filing shouldn't make the wait any harder, acually it should be better because now you know there will be an end to the seperation.

I completely disagree. ALL of us want the process to go faster, especially those that don't have the kind of money to spend on an 'extra fee'. I don't think its fair that people that have more money are treated differently than people that don't...like approving visas in rapid time for people that can afford it. It's not fair.

Well... being separated before filling K-1 is terrible. Doesn't make the wait after filling any better though.

I don't know about others, but last year, my life here in France still made sense. I had a reason to be here and not with my (at the time) boyfriend. Each time we've been separated has been worse.

Now I have no reason to be here in France but the fact I don't have a visa. And this is the seconde time we are separated for so long, and I am getting tired of it.

I know some people are living way worse situation than mine, don't get me wrong, I don't want to say my situation is so bad or anything. But please, don't say the wait and separation is nothing, it is not that important blush.gif

It is bad, and it gets on our nerves and make us come up with not so good ideas, and have not so noble feelings (egoistic and jealous, yes, it happens). Even if now, you really don't feel it anymore, but I am pretty sure you experienced this kind of feelings yourself when you were in the middle of your year of waiting. Our you are a saint blush.gif

Maybe in a few months, or a year or whatever I'll think it wasn't that bad, sure. We're saying this all the time with my fiancé. But right now, the wait is making us miserable (even now that I know I'll be with him in a few weeks)

Good luck in your visa journey!

But don't you still have family in France, so why have they become meaninless now. Your bf/ husband is not your everything, nor should he/she be. You haven't lived if you are putting all of your eggs in one basket.

You sill have friends who you have spent a good part of your life with, so are they now less importamnt because you are leaving.

Let me ask you this in return, when was the last time you saw your fiance or finacee?
