Visa denied, refiling one year later

I got my visa denied last year when I went alone and said I was doing tourism and visiting my boyfriend. I'm a 22 year old college student with a job and I own a car, but at the time I had only been working at my job for 2 months or so. By the time I file now it'll be 1 year and a half since I've been working there and I'm still in college. It's a part-time job with a decent salary, I live at an apartment that we rent with my mom. So my questions are:

*Would it be better to go with my mom or go alone? Does it make a difference? (I would try that if it makes a difference, the thing is I'm not sure if we'll be able to afford two tickets so I might end up going alone anyway, don't know if that's a problem at the POE)

*Should I still mention that I'm visiting my boyfriend or should I only mention him if asked about it? We are still together and I'll obviously see him when I'm there, even though the main goal is tourism since if it's to visit it's better when he comes here because he can stay longer. Everyone keeps telling me to say we broke up but I'm not sure that's very believable or useful at all.

*Is it true that it makes a difference if you traveled to other places before? I haven't traveled internationally since I was a kid.

And that's it basically. Thanks in advance.

Don't mention the boyfriend unless asked about it. Your boyfriend is a strike against you in proving your ties to home.

I dont think lieing and not mentioning your bf is going to help.

Every answer you gave in your last interview is on the record so CO would know you said yes that you have bf last time.

I would suggest make sure you have more solid ties to your home country and you will return back after your visit.

You can show your current balance in the bank, letter from employer - showing you are coming back, letter from school that you are going to join back etc.

Taking your mom with you does not increase or decrease your chance everyone is required to qualify by themself.

Well, thank you for the replies. I was planning on bringing more documents than last time, even though they didn't really look at anything I brought last time.

Is it just having a boyfriend there that makes it impossible? I keep finding out about people from here in their 20s with no jobs that don't even go to school and they get a 2 month visa and it makes me very confused about the whole process.

No having BF does not automatically deny your application.

Most of the time anyone within their 20s single ppl who are more likely to stayover in US are rejected or have hard time getting visa.

Most CO look for strong ties to your home country which shows them you have something to return back to your home country and you would not overstay your visa.

Would it be reasonable to go alone again with basically the same application, except more college time and one more year at my job and expect a better result? Last time I wrote my bf's information on the thing about the person you know there. What I'm not sure about is if when they ask what I'm going for I should just say tourism this time or say tourism and visiting like I said last time, which I guess opened the topic about my bf, asides from me already putting his name on my application.

I guess I made some mistakes the first time mentioning him so much, but I thought being honest was better and I didn't really think it'd be so hard =p.

And another thing, if my mother is my sponsor for the trip (since she's helping me pay for ticket and stuff cuz she makes a lot more money than me) can she come with me to the interview? I hate being alone there xD.

No harm in trying, you only have the fee at risk.

Another question came up and I figured I'd put it on the same thread, since I'm planning just going and saying that I'm doing tourism and visiting my bf, should I get an invitation letter from him? I would be staying at a hotel, not his house since he lives with his parents. I don't know what purpose that would have but I'll ask =p.

This would not help you. It doesn't show reasons for you to go home after a visit. It shows the opposite, reasons you would abuse the visitor visa to come and marry your boyfriend and immigrate to the US.

Oh ok, thank you. I guessed that it wasn't very useful, just asking cuz I saw some people do it. I guess I'll just bring my work and college stuff and leave it at that. I kindda wish they could read my mind at the embassy, it would save me some trouble and frustration xD.
