I-765 Renewal Question

Hello all!

So, here's my situation, for which I have been unable yet to find an answer: Last year (mid-May) I filed my I-485 package, complete with my I-765 work authorization. Several months later, I received my work authorization card, only to find there was a spelling error in my name. I called the USCIS up to ask them what to do, and, looking in my copies of forms submitted, found that the error was mine and not theirs. I sent them a letter which explained my situation, along with fresh copies of all the necessary documentation, and got the corrected card in the mail some time later.

Now it is approaching the three month deadline for submitting my I-765 renewal package, and I'm stumped by the "Which USCIS office?" and its accompanying date question on the form. Should I use the original I-485 form date and the Chicago IL office? And if I do, will the documentation I submit have to have the spelling error in it? Or should I go by the later date when I sent the replacement card docs, and use the National Benefits Center instead?

Chicago is not an office, it is a glorified mailroom where petitions are sorted and sent on to service centers. The correct answer for both is National Benefits Center, and use the most recent date. Good luck.
