I was born and partially raised in Ottawa, ON. Moved to PEI then to Chicago. Raised in Chicago (got USC) then moved to Phoenix. Most of my family still lives in Ottawa though.

No kidding! We have a TON of them coming here after Canadian Thanksgiving! I can't believe the number of BC lic. plates I see in Phoenix.

Born and spent the majority of my first 18 years in Prince Albert Saskatchewan( 6 months as a baby inUranium city--now a ghosttown, and 2 yrs in La Ronge.

9 yrs in Victoria BC with the Navy, 6months Winnipeg with Air Force and Neartly 3 years in Greenwood NS. All was good, Victoria had the best weather, but would mover back to Sk in no time, just wouldn't be PA, but Saskatoon.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Born and raised in New Jersey. Came to Canada as a teenager and stayed, mostly in Ontario. Became a citizen after 27 years. Now a dual of Canada and the U.S.

Met a man from the Azores in Toronto and encouraged him to get his Canadian passport after he'd lived in Canada 27 years. He's now a dual of Canada and Portugal.

Decided to move back to New Jersey, and it's a hoot to see the Soprano State through the eyes of someone who grew up in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

Moving to Norfolk, VA next summer for 3 months where we'll get married.... then who knows where my fiance's next assignment will be??? we are keeping fingers crossed for RI! Nice and close to Canadian border :P

Inlaws have a summer home near Newport. We all usually head there for the July 4th long weekend. Best place to catch the firworks is from the base!! They get a friend to check all of us on. No crowds to deal with and no traffic coming nor leaving!! If ya go downtown to watch them, traffic is terrible. Just for ur info
