So this is me and my fiancé's situation. I am the immigrant to be from Manila and she is the USC. She just got a job that pays $8.40 an hour which would put us under the 125% of the poverty line. She has had a little credit problem as well. Would we have a decent chance of having the visa granted to us as it is? If not, I have an uncle that would be willing to sponsor me/us and should be enough through poverty line. I would be very thankful for your feedback and opinion on this matter!

You need a sponsor if below the 125% poverty level.

if you have an uncle that would sponsor then that would be a possibility, he just need to fill up the forms for affidavit of support....

Yes use the cosponsor

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

I thought USEM-Manila does not allow co-sponsor for k1 as far as I have read many posts in here (vj). Just wondering which of which?

The U.S. Embassy Manila accepts joint sponsors for K-1'ers on a case-by-case basis. I'd guess that they accept joint sponsors maybe 50% of the time. However, I doubt if they would accept a joint sponsor who is related to the beneficiary.

Really? So we need a co-sponsor that's related to my fiance, as opposed to me? Is it absolutely necessary for the co-sponsor to be related to her, because she's not really in good terms with her close relatives. :( Thank you for the response however!

While it's technically not necessary, it is highly advisable for the co-sponsor to be related closely to the USC - especially because Manila is a high fraud embassy and, from what I've seen on VJ just for the last few months, is already a tough embassy to convince to take on a co-sponsor.

I don't think any amount of chat logs will help. What will help is the petitioner getting a job that pays more, or a second, part-time job which would put the petitioner over 125% of the poverty guidelines.

If the petitioner doesn't have a close relative who is willing to be a joint sponsor, then you may have to risk trying to use the beneficiary's relative as a joint sponsor. Either way, I would strongly recommend the petitioner attending the interview.

Alright so we're in a bit of a pickle unless she would get past the 125% of the poverty line. My uncle lives in New Jersey, so will he have to go back here to the Philippines when/if I get interviewed? Or am I understanding your response in a wrong way? Would it make a difference if we applied for the IR-1 with the same situation? Thanks again for the response!
