guys i was just wondering which do you think is better, to set an interview date at the embassy after receiving NOA2 and then do the medical at SLEC or do the medical first before getting interview appointment specially if you think there might be some sputum test suspicion? i know SLEC will ask for the interview date but i read some VJers had the medical first before getting their interview date and it seemed like SLEC allowed them to as long as they got NOA2, appointment letter and other papers needed but no interview date.

When my wife went in to do her medical it was suggested we do it at least 2 weeks prior to the interview date, just in case problems arose they could be taken care of within that 2 week time frame. Anything that would take longer than 2 weeks you'd know, then you can reschedule the appointment appropriate to the time you need. Going to SLEC for the med exams is first come first serve, there is no scheduling system for it, unlike the interview date which you typically schedule at least a few weeks in advance.

I have read about others asking if they can do the medical early, but I haven't read of anyone actually getting the medical done with just a copy of the NOA2. I have read of some doing the medical with just the NVC letter, mostly those are IR/CR-1 and not K-1.

You will need your MNL # before you will be able to schedule an appointment at the embassy, and your visa validity date will be tied to the medical date so why try to rush things.

SLEC website states they want your appointment confirmation letter/online appointment confirmation page (K-1 visa) or your NVC instructions letters (this is for those doing other than K-1 visa, such as IR/CR-1). If you are concerned about the sputum test the interview dated can always be re-scheduled.

There is a link for the K-1 process in my signature below.

you need to have your medical 1 to 2 weeks before your interview.. they will ask for your appointment letter before you can enter St, Lukes.. you can do walk in at st. lukes.. its a first come first serve. so make an appointment date and print your appointment confirmation then do your medical 1 or 2 weeks before your interview date

I think I remember asking this a while back too, but it seems that it's simpler to just schedule the interview first. That way, when the beneficiary goes to St. Luke's, he or she won't have the added stress of not knowing whether or not they'll be turned away at the door because of the lack of the visa interview schedule. You can try it but I don't think there's been a documented case yet where a person did the medical without the interview scheduled. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I am (usually) the beneficiary.

With IR/CR-1 they can do the medical with the Instruction Letter from NVC and not have an interview scheduled (NVC does the scheduling not the applicant with this visa), which is a totally diffierent letter than what K-1 receive from NVC.

Not all IR/CR1 applicants have NVC letters and if your one of those who don't you have to have an interview scheduled to get into St. Lukes. It is up to you to schedule your own interview if not handled by the NVC

Yup there is an exception to every rule- DCF being one. But for the majority, namely all those living in the USA and petitioning then waiting for USCIS & NVC is the process before doing anything in Manila.
