Mistake on G-325A

Hi all, my fiance and I just realized two months after NOA1 that we forgot to put her mothers date of birth on the G-325A form. My question is, should we contact USCIS now and ask them to amend the mistake, would this cause to many problems like our file being brought up and lost by some fool, or should we wait and notify the interviewing officer come interview time? Is this kind of thing likely to cause an RFE?

Thanks for any advice!

I think it definitly is the kind of thing to cause a RFE but nothing worse than this. A RFE for this is really not a big deal for you, you'll just send back the form properly completed when (and if) you get a RFE. If is is the non-USC G325A that your talking about, you might ask your fiancée to complete and sign a new form now so you have it and can send it right away when the RFE comes. This way you'll waste less time.

Good luck!

Good luck in your visa journey!

instead of putting month, day and year i put day, month and year. Do you think that they can send an RFE?

my fiance siad he will call them today and ask but i wish to know ealier.

Bring a corrected version to the interview. Not an issue.

You will not get an RFE, no issue. Parent information is optional.

I doubt you will need the birth certificate. She can correct it at the interview if she wants. Simply not important. USCIS people have no clue what the consulate needs but that does not stop them from making up an answer.

Read the G-325a. It asks for parent information "if known". The G-325a is used by USCIS, not by the Department of State that issues visas.

No. But he should have just entered "deceased" and been done with it. That's what I did for my father. For Alla's father we entered "unknown"

PARENT INFORMATION IS OPTIONAL. It does not have to be entered at all. They have no way to know it is wrong and do not care. You will NOT get an RFE for information that is not required.

USCIS uses the G-325a to sort out names in background checks and not much else. The consulate has NO need for it. They have all their own forms for the visa application. Saying they will need the parents BC at the interview is ridiculous but that is why we call it the "misinformation hotline"

The G-325a is used for many petition types for different purposes.

Let's say beneficiary's G325a has mothers current last name (instead of "maiden" last name). Should they bring a new G325a to the embassy? What's a reasonable course of action?

The G-325A can simply be corrected at the embassy interview.

Hello all,

I just got signed up with VJ yesterday cause I really find all the posts here very helpful.. I have a question regarding my BC and G-325A.

My BC (as well as my siblings' BC and my parents' MC) contains my mother's "baptismal name" which we eventually discovered that it was different from the name on her birth records. After that discovery, we then follow the name on her birth records as well as filling up my G-325A. Will I be questioned on its discrepancy during interview at the USEM? Should the affidavit be enough to support our claim even if her original birth certificate is not available anymore on our local civil registrar and NSO so we just have the late registration of her birth?

All response will be highly appreciated

Ann
