Hey VJers!

I have two quick questions.

Does the Ciudad Juarez consulate require a police certificate? I've tried to find this information, but I am somewhat confused. :bonk:

And secondly, about the vaccines at the medical exam, in case that you are missing one...do they vaccinate you at the moment? Or how does that go.

Many thanks for your help. :star:

No. They are not needed if you have had no criminal activity.

They tend to not bother at all with vaccines for a K-1. This means you will have no DS-3025 for when you file AOS and will need to find a civil surgeon in the US to get an I-693. It can be a pain to find a civil surgeon that won't insist on charging you for and giving another medical that is not needed. You can search here on VJ for more information on that topic. Try and get the ones required for AOS in Mexico where they are cheaper or free: MMR, Tdap(or TD), varicella(unless you already had the chickenpox), and the flu shot(only needed during flu season and you will most likely file for AOS after flu season and will not need this one). Make sure to bring the records of the vaccinations with you.

Many thanks for your help. :star:

Yes, you need a carta de policia. My wife got one in "la presidencia" of the city she resides in. Also, try to get most of the vaccines before the interview, that way you will save money. If you don't have all the vaccines, they will give them to you there. My wife had the interview on February 6, 2013 and they charged us about $5,000 pesos...because she was missing 3 vaccines.

No, they do not. It is not the same for a K-1 as the CR-1. A K-1 does not require vaccinations to enter the US, so they tend to skip the vaccinations completely when a K-1 applicant has their medical. They are required for AOS though, as I stated in my previous post above.

If they have not lived anywhere else but Mexico and have no criminal background, then no police records are needed for the K-1 interview. Some people take them anyway, others have been approved just fine without them. From the Juarez K-1 instructions: http://photos.state....packetk1may.pdf

5. Persons convicted of a crime must obtain a certified copy of each court record and any prison record, regardless of the fact that they may have benefited subsequently from an amnesty, pardon, or other act of clemency.

Also, the DoS site lists police records from Mexico as 'Unavailable'(even though some are able to get something in their city, not everyone can): http://travel.state....l?cid=9684#docs

Hello! Sorry, I did not realize it was for a K1. I thought they were referring to CR1....you are absolutely right!
