Tomorrow, I shall scour the streets of NYC once again, in search of the bizarre.......

for now my friends......

If it looks good.......eat it !

(I've gotta come up with my own slogan)

Ah here's a slogan, "Don't ask what it is, just eat it"

A new Filipino restaurant is opening up here today. We'll be off for lunch as soon as my wife is ready, and I get some kitty litter down on that oil slick in the garage, have to but it yet though. Want to guess who will be done first?

Dang bayot ran out of food by 1:00. This is his hand opening day and he runs out of food 2 hours in? Nothing left except some pork that was too sweet. He ran out of rice right after we got something, well the only thing he had left. He had the same issues on his preopening event a few weeks ago. This place will be like the last Filipino place, out of business when people keep showing up to find it closed or out of food.

Finally got home after a day out. First was a new Filipino eatery's grand opening, they open at 11, we got there at 1 and they were out of almost everything, no choice just one poorly made pork dish. Same thing happened at their pre grand opening but we were there early enough to get the good stuff. Wife and I decided we're not going there again. Went to the Filipino grocery after and picked up a few things, like these weird short bananas from there we both like eating. Don't really taste like our bananas. But as I was unloading the bags I discovered something my wife snuck in the basket, fried chicken skin packaged as a snack. No meat, no breading just fried skin lol

Chicken rind.....never heard of it.

And the small bananas are supposed to be real low in starch. It's all over the health food stores here.

I've eaten quite a few of the items listed here and will add some that are not yet listed - squirrel, snake, frog's legs, tortoise, headcheese, pickled pig's feet. For many years I was an historical re-enactor and around the campfires you often had the chance to try some rather interesting foods. The squirrel, snake and frog's legs were 'caught' on site and cooked there. The tortoise outgrew its' enclosure at a nursery and was going to be put down, so the re-enactors purchased it for food. My Mom used to make headcheese - it is basically the jelled contents from a pig's head, and we used to enjoy pickled pigs feet for a treat. Eel, any and every sort of smoked fish, escargot, duck, goose, lamb/muitton and goat (I love both); chicken feet (I have a Chinese sister-in-law :D ), dried ostrich, dried alligator, dried emu (a lot of dried meats sold in specialty stores that make for great camp food), and more usual game foods like bison, deer, elk, and moose. Organ meats of almost every kind although I don't like tripe or chittlins. Stuffed heart, sauteed kidneys, liver - all good. My Mom used to love Blood Pudding (good old Scottish food) but I never enjoyed that after my first taste. A good haggis is also hard to find, but when you do, it is well worth eating.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

This is different than those. Imported peeled and frozen from the Philippines. I'd say from the flavor, higher in starch. Not as sweet as we eat here. It's kind of an acquired taste thing. I didn't like them at all first time I tried them.
