This is probably the most bizarre food I ever had. Not really that bizarre here in Argentina, but bizarre enough for the American standard I guess. It's pork or sheep head with mashed brain, it's so good! I found this picture on the internet so you see what it looks like. YUM!

My husband has learned to love of all the organs we eat down here, and brain is our next step ;)

OH LORD, COULDN'T DO IT. Anything with a face just gives me the heeby jeebies. If I didn't know those sides were brains, though, I might try them. They look innocent.

I've been to China, Japan, and Vietnam, but still the strangest food I've ever eaten was "Brown Bread", which is a common food among the older generation in New England. I just couldn't get used to the fact that this bread comes in a can.

ok bizarre foods:

1.) Pig's brain with scrambled egg

2.) Pig's tail and snout (is that what you call the nose thing ?)

3.) Pig's feet in this jelly thing

4.) Chicken feet

5.) Eel (not sure if that is bizarre really...)

6.) Apparently I also ate bull's balls when I was a child and so did my sister - we called them little hippos - Until today I refuse to accept the fact that I ate balls.

7.) Anything wild you can shoot in the woods

8.) Goat and a lot of it...its good (also not so bizarre imo)

That is all I can remember.

Sorry to say that I have eaten:

1. Horse Sashimi

2. Stewed Canine

3. Assorted live seafood

4. Stinky tofu

A good friend of mine lived and worked in South Korea for eight years as an English teacher, and he told me once that his class took him out for dinner when he first arrived as a "welcome to Korea" kind of thing. He said everything was great until someone ordered dog and insisted on giving him the best part to eat as the guest of honor - the #######. He had to eat it of course, because he didn't want to be rude, but jeez, what a situation! He said they also had snake's blood, which he quite liked.

And isn't horse supposed to be a big thing in France? Or maybe it was Italy. They make such a big deal of it in the States but if it's popular in other places it can't be TOO horrible. I mean, how different can it be from the other mammals Americans scarf down?

Did someone mention not liking eating things that look at you? This is Lapu Lapu, a small colorful grouper when alive.

Then a little coconut wine to wash it down. Cost about me 50 cents for half a gallon. I finally remembered to take a picture when it was just about all gone. BTW that is the floor in this house.

Meat fondue in Switzerland, at least the italian part , has mix of beef and horse meat on the plate. Nobody felt the need to even mention it. Not a big deal at all. Horse meat salami is also quite common. My fiance wouldn't eat it or lamb or goat for that matter. I am still trying to figure out why, I guess it is too weird for him.
