I am a USC mother, I sent a I-130 to petition my two sons (15 and 16yrs old) on Sept 24,2012 then on Oct 9, 2013.... I received form I-797C for each one, then after 2 weeks i received another letter for my 15 year old stating that they have approved the petition. I checked the website for my other son (the 16yrs old), it says thats its on a INITIAL REVIEW status. i called the call ctr and they said it takes 5 months to process. Is that 5 mos on initial review process or 5 months till he gets over here in the US. And Im confused why the other petition got approved and the other didnt when I filed and paid the same petition at the same time. Does anybody know how long I should wait for the INITIAL REVIEW to get done. and on the website it described that they have sent me something and that i should follow instruction, I didnt receive anything except the I-797C which indicates the case number for my petition. Please Help me understand the process.

The one case was completed very fast. Normally it is about 5 months from the date they receive the petition. That date is the priority date on your NOA1 (notice of action I-797c sheet you received.)
