NVC emails received but we have not yet received NOA2 from USCIS?

Hi everyone!

My husband received 2 emails yesterday from NVC. They were 2 letters, one addressed to me and a green one to him.

They had our new NVC case number, bar codes, DS-3032 choice of agent and address form and also the Affidavit of Support (AOS) Processing Fee Bill Invoice.

Does this mean we are approved? We are a little confused because we have not yet gotten our NOA2 from USCIS yet. Will this be in the snail mail in a few days?

We filed my I-130 in October 2012 so we are hoping this is a great sign that things are finally going to start happening for us!!!

We have only just recently filed for my 2 children so we are hoping to get their I-130s expedited to be in line with mine so we can all interview together. I hope we won't have to wait another 4-5 months for theirs.

Any advice or answers will be appreciated. Thanks!

I would call USCIS immediately and ask. Don't respond until you get an explanation from them or the NVC. This could be phishing (an email from a scammer who tries to get sensitive information from you).

http://www.uscis.gov/ and click "contact us" on the left hand side. 1-800-375-5283. You can also check your USCIS case status online right on the main webpage.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html (603) 334-0700 for NVC (check hours, open late M-F). Give them your USCIS case number...

Good luck!

If the letters are attached then you should also have case numbers within them. The letters you describe are the same as the ones I got (x3 since it is myself and 2 children).

When you login to the USCIS site using your receipt number what does it say? You'd know if your petition has been approved or not by logging in there.

If you use the case number and Invoice Identification Number in your letter you received you should be able to login to the payment portal: https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/Signon.aspx?node=Signin

It just sounds to me like you haven't been as obsessive as the rest of us, logging in to the USCIS site every day watching for your approval and that the NOA2 will follow by regular mail. That's my guess.

Take some time to read the NVC guides here so you can understand the correct steps to take.

Just proceed. This is a non-issue. There will never be a need to show any approval notice in the immigrant visa process. Just move forward at NVC. Obviously, the petition has been approved and sent on.

Actually, we have been checking our case status every day, sometimes 2-3 times a day on the USCIS website and it stills says 'Initial Review.' I dont think it gets updated very often. So I think it is safe to say, even without receiving our NOA2 that we have been approved!! Yayyyy! It has been 10 months since I have seen my husband so we can't wait to get this thing moving!

Right now, we will wait until we get my children's I-130s NOA1 and get their MSC number so we can call NVC and hopefully get their applications sped up. We added my MSC number to their applications and asked for expedition so I hope it works. I want to interview and travel with them and I certainly cannot leave them behind. Fingers crossed!
