I just thought that if you happened to lived/ filed your AOS where VSC has jurisdiction, you will unlikely to have an interview..

But those two things are not tied together. All AOS applications are sent to the Chicago Lockbox and then onto the NBC(National Benefits Center-MSC). It does not matter where you live when you file. AOS cases are not adjudicated at the CSC or VSC.

I believe it depends on the local service center, many are over-loaded with cases so a large percentage of AOS cases get approved without an interview. Same for ROC as it stands right now.

01/2006 - Filed k1(1st time)

04/2006 - Interview (1st time) denied

Waited, waited...... no review

06/2009 - Filed k1 (2nd time)

09/2009 - NOA 2 approved

12/2009 - Interview (2nd time) APPROVED! VISA ISSUED

I am not sure about that, as I was adjudicated at CSC. I believe that those who have a K-1 are more likely to have their AOS approved at NBC versus at a local office as both are at 7 months or more to adjudicate the GC. Those who file an AOS with a I-130 are more likely to have their interview and be processed at the local field office within 2-3 months.

I was at NBC adjusting from K1 to AOS and no interview. I filed middle of July 2012 and received my GC 2 weeks ago

I know those two things are not tied together and I know all AOS are processed at NBC, i'm just saying based on my observation and it's kind of a pattern that (mostly) if you happen to reside under VSC jurisdiction wether your K-1 was processed at CSC but you move to a state under VSC jurisdiction before filing or while AOS is pending, you will unlikely to get an interview.. But then again it's what I have observed..

It appears to be true that most K-1 visa holders do not receive an interview for their AOS. This was noted first back around 2005 when USCIS first started to transfer AOS cases from local offices to CSC. The transfer notices stated it was to improve the speed of processing. Research determined that the cases transferred were generally very straight forward and did not appear to have any sort of red flags or apparent issues. Everyone reporting the transfer was a K-1 (I don't recall anyone filing from another visa being transferred and processed without an interview) which makes some sense since K-1s have just completed a series of security checks and interviews shortly before applying for the AOS. Once it appeared that the K-1 visa terms were fulfilled, unless there was something obviously amiss, the files were transferred to CSC for quick review and approval without an interview. Occasionally, there were a few files that were then re-transferred back to their local offices and those individuals were duly notified that they had an interview. So, yes, the majority of K-1s seem to be approved for AOS without an interview.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
