23 days without case number yet, is it normal?

Hi guys, would like to ask your opinion if having no case # yet is normal?i've been calling nvc since the 2 weeks mark was reached but then the operator always told me our case is not in the system yet and wait 20 days more, if that so the 30 days of waiting uscis stated in the letter was untrue.My last call was Feb. 22 and told to call after 20 days so it is already 42 by then!!!! Please share if you have same experience.:)

All you can do is keep calling and asking... Patience. Just remember you are dealing with government workers...

The short answer is yes. NVC allows for 20 BUSINESS DAYS (4 weeks) to get the case number into the system. I see from your timeline that NVC received your case on February 19. This is when the 20 day counter will start, NOT from your NOA2. Still, this part should go pretty fast if you have your ducks in a row. Use this time to prep your AOS and IV packages. I was given this information and told that you can actually call the USEM Manila to try and get your case number. It won't hurt to try. Here is the information....Good Luck :thumbs:

37 days went by before I received a case number from the NVC after receiving my NOA2.

Our journey:

September 2007: Met online via social networking site (MySpace); began exchanging messages.
March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)

Wow. 37 days !!!! I am only on day 8 so I can't complain yet but this wait is definitely hard to deal with.

It'a been 16 days and they haven't recieved my case yet. I'm just waiting. It's funny how I soooo stressed over the USCIS process but I have not been to worried about the NVC. :) I have called a few times and was told they same. My lawyer said the same also it can take up to 40 days. At this rate I think my husband should have his interview in June. We had planned for this process to take 8 months. We are right on track so I can't complain.


USCIS - 66 days ROC - 139 days from sent to approved
12/3/2012 - I-130 delivered to Chicago 5/20/15: mailed I-751 package to California office
12/4/2012 - NOA1 NBC (Missouri Service Center MSC) 5/22/15: Date on NOA1
12/6/2012 - Check cashed 8/26/15: Bio appointment

12/8/2012 - Received paper NOA1 10/06/15: Received Email card was being processed
12/20/2012 - Case number showed up on USCIS website
1/29/2013 - Called USCIS and case is still at NBC
2/8/2013 - Received an Email that we were approved on 2/7/13
3/5/2013 - Told file may have been "misplaced" to email NOA2 to NCVresearch
3/7/2013 - ISO at the USCIS opened a service request to try to track down
if and when the file was shipped. Should hear something before 3/26 ( so she said)

NVC - 119 days NVC to Visa in hand
03/11/2013: NVC received (31 days from NOA2 at USCIS till received at NVC )
03/25/2013: NVC Case no. assigned
03/27/2013: Paid AOS fee (shows paid 3/29/13)
