I think this is a good thread there's so much talk around here about what's wrong with American women, it has always made me wonder: well, if American men are SO GREAT why are all of the American ladies on this site with foreign men, many of whom are from societies that expect more "traditional values" than the US?

From my own personal experience, American guys are very nice, fun, generally good-natured, etc, but they take a LONG TIME to grow up and that gets VERY tiresome. Of course there are exceptions, but I have never met any of these exceptions, and even if a guy is nice and fun, there's no future there because being with a 20's-something American guy is like babysitting him until he turns 35.

But the immaturity just extends to the relationship. American guys that I have dated have all been unreliable and childishly selfish when it comes to the relationship, but SO SERIOUS about their jobs and willing to do anything to further their careers. When I met my husband, I was surprised how directed he was with his life and how dedicated he was to school, but that he was willing and able to also include me into his life the way I wished to include him in mine.
