Internatinal Traveling back to home country while on CRI

Hi everyone, my husband and I are flying back to Spain this summer, we are on the two year conditional residency until 2014's appointment. He has a green card, and a state ID. Can he travel? I'm assuming yes, but I wanted to make sure that he won't be stopped at the airport. Does he use his Spanish passport to fly there and both his Spanish passport and Greencard to get back? We're only going for a month this summer. Thanks

He is no longer on a Cr1 visa, he is a green card holder. He uses his passport to travel out of the US and passport and green card to reenter

Yes, you got it right. Check that his Spanish passport isn't expiring soon. If it is, he might be ok to travel anyway but it may be a little more trouble. If it's expiring after your trip but within the next couple of years, maybe he should renew it while in Spain - often easier and cheaper than doing so from the US.
