I'd recommending finding a job/second job to secure that you're over the income requirement. Is there something stopping you from doing that? I'm not trying to be rude or unfriendly; just trying to get a better picture of your situation. It helps us guide you to a longterm decision that'll unite the two of you.

A few options though - if your SO is with a company that can transfer his employment/his income would continue in the US, then go the spousal route and he can use his income as well.

Secondly - the job thing; if you're falling short a few thorusands, then it's a matter of 5-6 hours more a week to earn yourself the way up above minimum income requirement. Basically any job will do, as long as you have proof of income.

My husband had loooong days putting up with picking up people's unsanitary furniture that they didn't pay for afterall. He got that job 6 months before submitting his/our petition. He got a better job after I arrived in the US, and it fit his skills alot better. The point is that he did it to stay above poverty limits. The little bonus was a reliable work history and a credit score good enough to buy a house. So we - including my income - bought a house 2 months ago. Took a good 2 years but well worth it because it was a longterm solution from day one.

is it not possible to just go to US. get married. i think there is a waiver for European citizens that they do not need visa to go to US. then spend maximum time with your partner, he then leaves US. you find a job. ask someone for co-sponsorship and file the visa, a friend, family and US citizen. its not illegal or fraud for co-sponsorship, you will pay the fees.

correct me if im wrong.. :innocent:

There's no way around this - unless he has substantial assets or a masters degree or works for a US firm who might transfer him....

YOU need to make enough money to support him or find a co-sponsor who does. All immigration paths require this, if money will be tight after he arrives, you might be better marrying and going the CR-1 route rather than K1.

Have you asked friends or relatives about becoming co-sponsors?
