Renewing driver's license during ROC

I know this is an old thread but i am hoping someone has some newer info on this situation.  As i have the exact same issue as people above.

 

Someone from another forum showed me this one and i guess this might be a better place to communicate with others who have experienced this too.  So i have posted else where earlier.  so apologize if it seems like i am spamming the boards but i am desperately trying to find a solution.

 

 

I need to have the Temp Visitor restriction altered/ updated on my learners permit/ license as it expired due to conditions on my 2 year green card.  Without it being done i am unable to take my driving test.  As the backlog for getting said new green card is 12-15 month i currently have about  13 months to wait until that joyful piece of plastic get put in my mail box.   So here i am wondering what happens next. 

 

I've been told i cannot take my driving test without updating the restriction note on my learner permit  - the permit itself is still valid.  I need to take my driving test asap.  I  tried desperately to get the supervisor at my local dmv today - to understand what the extension letter actually is.  They tend to think it is just a biometric appointment letter and were really not helpful at all.  Saying they never accept a letter and only take a valid green card.  

 

Any help would be appreciated from anyone who has recently been through this.  Do i just give up or keep trying elsewhere?
